The Manhattan Times
SAT OCT 11 2025
Washington, D.C. residents say theyve seen enough and theyre taking matters into their own hands.
A new grassroots movement is sweeping the capital, marking locations where Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have allegedly detained undocumented people. The signs, posted on telephone poles and fences, are direct and defiant: ICE ABDUCTED SOMEONE HERE, followed by a date, time, and a plea for others to share what theyve witnessed.
Presidential spokesperson Abigail Jackson blasted the signs in an email to The Washington Post, calling them untrue smears and insisting that ICE does not kidnap anyone.
But that hasnt stopped residents from putting up more. Barbara McCann, one of the campaigns organizers, said the movement was born from firsthand experience, not political spin. They are targeting people who cant defend themselves the homeless, the undocumented, McCann said. When theres been great injustice, moral clarity takes a long time.
She described watching ICE agents detain two men from a car near her home a moment she said shook her and inspired her to act. Now, shes one of dozens across the city documenting ICE activity in real time.

I remember talking to a legal immigrant while I was out canvassing for the Democrats last year. She is married to an American and both swore if twerp was elected she was not worried. I think about her a lot...

Being Latino, I now have to carry my Passport card to prove I'm a US citizen. How many here have to do this?
Living only 7 miles from the Mexican border, in a city with an estimate 50% population of undocumented immigrants, I have to live thinking about being pulled over every day.

(11,769 posts)A lot of the highly Latino Texas border counties swung very hard towards trump the last cycle or two. Any regrets? Are they likely to regain their senses and swing back to the Democrats and democratic norms in general?

(10,379 posts)The reason Texas border area are voting (R), is that conservatives are buying radio stations along the border but also throughout the state in Hispanic heavy areas, and converting them into Spanish Christian/Conservative format. So I'm hearing Latinos now using the same talking points that Conservative Christians use.
This will be a big problem in future elections.

(6,670 posts)"Religion" is just man's power and control over others. It's a rigid set of rules with no reasons except "god said" spoken by the man who wants to control you.
Christians, I think, are going to be in for a really rude awakening when the pendulum swings. While we won't forget the progressive churches who were there doing the "red letter" work (we're not like magas, after all), we also won't forget the evangelicals and the NAR and the 7 Mountains movement and Dominionism and Charismatics, and the Proft and prophecy churches. IOW, the charlatans. They may actually find out what it means to be the persecuted people they always claim they are now. And I, for one, say so mote it be that love will be returned by love, and justice to hatred.
I have no use for religion. I see it now, and have for a long time seen it as a phony construct made by kings and dictators and wannabe's for their own wealth and power. REAL people who are spiritual... whether or not they're associated with any church, have morals and ethics that go far beyond those dictator's rules. And you don't have to be religious or spiritual to have moral and ethics. You just have to be human to be humane.

Protect yourself as much as possible.
SCOTUS has ruled that it's illegal to discriminate based on race when it pertains to College admissions,
but it's perfectly LEGAL to discriminate based on race when it pertains to immigration.
Colleges admissions affected white race negatively, by not being selected roll for admissions, so we have to get rid of that.
While immigration doesn't affect white race because they don't have dark skin, so it's perfectly fine to discriminate.
I'm sorry I don't mean to appear like a racist, but SCOTUS 6-Pack, put all of us in this situation.

I have a U.S. passport and a "Certificate of Foreign Birth" from the State Department....but, lets be honest here...none of that would preclude them from snatching me up and it could take weeks to be released (if not disappeared) from one of those hell hole Concentration Camps!

(486 posts)AI Overview Google
Yes, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) needs a warrant signed by a judge to enter your home, unless you give them consent or they have probable cause for a criminal arrest. You have the right to not open the door or let them in without a valid judicial warrant. An administrative warrant signed by an ICE official is not enough to enter your home.
Your rights if ICE comes to your door
Do not open the door:
You are not obligated to let them in unless they have a judicial warrant.
Ask for identification and a warrant: Ask the officers to show you their credentials and a warrant through a window or peephole. The warrant must be signed by a judge and must list your correct address and name.
Do not consent: Opening your door can be seen as giving consent for them to enter and search. If they do not have a warrant, simply state, "I do not consent to your entry" and keep the door closed.
Do not lie or sign documents: Do not lie or produce false documents, and do not sign anything without speaking to a lawyer first.
If they force their way in: Do not resist, and do not open the door to avoid a confrontation.

(59,126 posts)I live in Germany. German weapons laws clearly state that if you are armed with a firearm while committing a crime, there is a mandatory five year jail sentence. Its one of the harshest laws on the books here.
They wouldnt make it that far, though. If German cops see a vehicle without license plates, theyll be pulled over immediately. If they say ICE! well, in German (written Eis but pronounced the same), that usually (though not always, depending on context) means ice cream, so the German cops, while slapping on the cuffs, might ask, what flavor?

(11,167 posts)have them on the floor of the House every day. We are here to do the business of the people while the Republicans are perpetually on vacation. They should then be focused on round the clock reporting on what is going on with ICE and with the Federal Government. If the Republicans refuse to return to Washington and do their jobs that gives the Democrats the ability to become the biggest thorn in their side. Schummer could do the same thing with the Senate.
See if they can get well known Democrats not currently in office to go to the affected states to document and speak out on what is happening. Maybe see if they can find some well known, respecter International figures to work the sites acting as the eyes of the world. Former Intelligence experts should be called upon to see how the ICE "Agents" can be identified.
I think with a lot of thinking outside of the box there are ways for Democrats (as a whole) to fight back. There are some that are awesome in their fearlessness but there needs to be more.

In what world is this even slightly in evidence. 1000% would suggest , let me see if I can do the math, at least 1000 violent assaults on kevlar wearing, heavily armed, masked and uniformed street thugs in Washington D.C.? I must have missed that when it was reported on the news.

(6,670 posts)right after we do a REAL Truth and Reconciliation Court! Without these, there can be no "moving on." I'm sorry Obama, Ford, and all the others who excused republican traitors by saying we should take the high ground, move on to move forward, etc., etc., ad infinitum. NOT this time. Too much was done and never touched during his first go-round. We're going to have to demand justice this time.
