(G)etting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air. Sarah Kay
I like being able to start with a quote from an inspirational human being such as Ms. Kay. In fact, I'll try to end this essay with more on that. I'll just say that the arts are extremely important.
It seemed that the month of September ended poorly for the felon and his pet Hegseth. Peter didn't couch his ignorant contempt for the military as he attempted a motivational pep talk. Fat chance of that happening. The felon was not aware that military leaders do not clap in support of political speeches, especially not those advocating fascism. They should have buckled their seat belts as the felon attempted to drive the nation in Mackenzie Shirilla -style.
Obviously, they are dangerous in their violent attempt to destroy the Constitution. Though Stephan Miller insist that it means just what I choose it to mean neither more nor less, the Constitution's only references to a sociopath-in-chief focus on impeachment and conviction. Chumpty Dumpty will eventually learn that lesson. The federal court system doesn't seem to be helping the administration.
James Comey and Letitia James have been indicted, and it is possible if not likely that Adam Schiff will also be charged. As a NYS resident, I like, respect, and trust as our state's attorney general. I have great confidence in her. And her strengths are exactly why the felon wants to exact revenge on her. (Note: the definition of exact revenge is to demand and obtain punishment for someone who has harmed you.)
Now, the indictments against Comey and James are cases of selective, vindictive prosecutions. Patrick Fitzgerald said, at the October 8 proceeding where Comey entered a plea of not guilty, that this is but one point that he will seek the dismissal of the indictments at the November 19 hearing. They will also document that the prosecutor was not legitimately appointed, that the grand jury process was abusive, and that the administration is acting outrageously.
Now, think back to when Comey was fired, and the felon bragged about it with his Russian guests in the Oval Office. Next, consider every single time the felon has attacked him while talking with the media and in his internet rants, from May of 2017 until his recent outbursts advocating an indictment before time ran out.
Mr. Fitzgerald's team is organizing highlights for use at the November 19 hearing. Thus, at the latest, Judge Michael Nachmanoff should dismiss the indictments with prejudice. And the same basic pattern will likely hold in A.G. James' case, and Senator Schiff's if he is indicted.
Slowly but surely, some maga are starting to distance themselves from the sex offender/felon. Consider that Marjorie Taylor Greene said she will read the list of offenders that the victims are compiling on the floor of the House. The media has reported the felon has called maga leaders, asking, What's going on with Marjorie? Maybe it is due to the death threats she is getting from those opposed to opening the Epstein files that she spoke of? That's speculation on my part, of course. But as she said, he has her cell phone number if he wants to talk.
We are in the preseason of next year's mid-terms, but we can anticipate more of the ambitious maga elected officials to flake away from him like dandruff. Those in the House know they are facing bitter defeats, and that the felon will be reduced to a lame duck. Currently, their refusal to take actions to release the Epstein scandal files hurts them with a significant portion of the cult, who recognize the campaign lied to them, and the administration has something to hide. It does not require a large number of the cult to recognize they have been betrayed to change election outcomes in 2026.
As I have said perhaps ad nauseam in times of social tensions, conspiracy theories take deep root. We are witnessing a divide among the maga faithful about the killing of Charlie Kirk. Now, I tend to adhere to the ancient teaching that sometimes a blunt is just a blunt, and you have to be willing to take a hit (or more) for the team. But a number of the top maga influencers are claiming that the administration is conducting a cover up. And a large number of the cult trusts them, and find it more likely this is true, after seeing the cover up of the Epstein scandal files. The momentum is building.
And finally, Hegseth announced that while his Qatar gently weeps, the administration will allow a foreign country to build a military base in Idaho. Many of the cult members recall that in 2017, the felon said, The nation of Qatar, unfortunately, has historically been a funder of terrorism at a very high level. It merely took the recent offer of a $400 million luxury jet liner to change his mind. When cult members began expressing outrage about the first every foreign military base in the country, Hegseth attempted to justify it as a training school for Qatar's pilots. Since few if any cult members can tell the difference between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, they remember the 9-11 hijackers were trained at US flight schools.
Are things perfect? Of course not. We are confronting a fascist threat from within, that this administration is fronting for. Our party leaders are not perfect excepting only AOC and Jasmine but they are doing better than many give them credit for. The courts are holding, at least for now. And now is exactly the time we need the grass roots to coordinate with the party to knock the fucking air out of maga lungs, my friends, while our elected representatives land head shots that leave snot running down the felon's nose.

(78,054 posts)I have always welcomed tough battles. There are the most import ones. And I've confirmed to my full satisfaction that Rep. Jamie Raskin has laid out a powerful map to lead us to the mid-terms. I had originally considered detailing my understanding of his plan. But because I recognize him as one of the most decent and intelligent politicians of my lifetime, I figured I'd wait and do that next. That way I can wait for the latest updates.
I do not underestimate the severe damage to society, and the pain and anxiety that these people are doing. But it will be slowed then stopped over the next three years, and a slow healing will begin. I am 100% certain of this. We are getting in position.

(78,054 posts)you are referencing a solid left hook to the liver. And that is far more painful than getting the wind knocked out of you. I've had both experiences -- got the wind bashed out of me in a fight I knocked the opponent out in, in the next round. I didn't go down, nor did I enjoy the time until the round ended. My late brother landed a hook to my liver in sparring. I could not have gotten up. So I agree fully with you!

(389 posts)No they are not being allowed to build an Air Base in the US. Full stop.
Mountain Home Air Force Base is a US facility where we fly F-15s, so it already has all the major infrastructure to support F-15s. Qatar signed a contract to buy F-15s from the US. That contract included support equipment and training. It also includes hanger space, dining halls and housing. Everything you would need to support a small detachment of aircraft to train pilots and maintainers. That training is unlikely to be conducted by military personnel, far more likely to be Boeing contractors. All that is paid for by Qatar under the terms of the contract.
By way of comparison, we have a similar arrangement with Singapore, they bought F15s as well. I have a much higher trust level with Singapore as compared to Qatar.
Germany used to maintain a small detachment of Tornados at Holloman AFB in NM. That wasn't because of a sale of US equipment to them, they were paying us to use that space because the number of days of flyable weather per year is much higher there than in Germany.

(78,054 posts)I aired and should have said "facility." I had saw it reported on in a podcast. Then looked at the internet, with a Washington Post article, then one on Salon which made clear it wasn't a "base." My mistake.
I am not anti- or pro-Qatar myself. However, as reported on a couple podcasts, maga cult members are angry about the facility. And that is a good thing.

(389 posts)I didn't check into this either. I have the benefit of some background experience here that most on this board wouldn't have. I've seen deals like this dozens of times. Yes that is a great thing that maga has their knickers in a twist.

(78,054 posts)Yes, their base as a training school. It must be impossible to train them any other place, such as their own country ..... otherwise, one might be forced against their will to think there is something terrible going on with this administration.
You can't make this shit up.

Thanks, H2O Man. I always enjoy your posts.

(78,054 posts)Rep. Raskin is one of my favorite politicians. He ranks with the very best I've seen in a long life, spent following and participating in politics. And as with past generations on both sides of my family being primarily members of the Democratic Party, myself and most of the extended family are today. So I also grew up listening to my elders' talk politics, my favorite was listening to my maternal grandfather. (His favorites were Ben Franklin and FDR.)
I have the greatest respect for Raskin, and am happy that we have him in the House at this time. But I want to see him in a high position in the next administration, and then on the Supreme Court.

(18,298 posts)Both why they would want one, and why we'd let them have it. Well, okay, there are 400 million reasons for the latter, so that's really no mystery. But why does Qatar want an airbase in Idaho? I can think of a few reasons, all of them criminal.

(389 posts)They contracted to buy F-15s from us. That contract included ground equipment and training for their pilots and ground crews. It also included construction of facilities like housing, dining halls, hangers, briefing rooms, etc. Everything you would need to support a small detachment of aircraft for the purpose of training.
All of that is slated to happen at Mountain Home AFB in ID. We already fly USAF F-15s there so it has all the major infrastructure to support them, this is just a fairly minor expansion of that. Singapore is doing the same thing at Mountain Home, they also bought F-15s from us.
Am I happy about that? No. Qatar has worked to help US interests at times and worked against us other times. Basically the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Not what I would consider a reliable ally.

(78,054 posts)I erred and wrote "base." I own that mistake. As noted in Salon today, it is not a "base," but a "military training facility." And, as noted above, it has been done before with allied nations, as with Singapore. Hegseth refers to our relationship with Qatar is a "partnership," which likely applies to a select group of US citizens.
The US, as noted, has allowed close allies to have a military training here. Heck, we all remember Central American military were trained at the School of the Americas to make Ronald Reagan's dream of bringing democracy to the region. Oscar Romero was a terrible threat -- at least to a select group of Americans -- and those trained military might not have been able to murder him while he was saying mass for and with peasants without that training.

(21,319 posts)Idiots really believe in P2025 as an "end". To Trump it's only a means.
As for Trump:
He has NO ideology, NO religion, NO beliefs, NO philosophy. Only MONEY, and POWER to get him more money and to cover up his crimes.
It's THAT simple.
And damn everything and everyone else. In a matter of micro-Scaramucci's.
