Full disclosure: there’s no indication that Barron has anything to do with his proposed promotion. The idea seems to have started with Daddy Dearest.

.......early sixties. The dudes who had earlier been Elvis or, even earlier, Sinatra wannabes, were trying to be relevant and resorted red, white and blue patriotism. Country Music did it better (?) and by the late sixties and the counterculture, even Elvis was singing about things "In the Ghetto". Weird, like I said.

BTW--back then Jay and the Americans were more popular with young adults born in the late 30's, my brother being one. He saw them at a club in DC I believe.
