This is pathetic. Trump admin's whining that their own immigration policies are hurting farmers

The Washington Post @washingtonpost 9h
In an unusual acknowledgement, the Trump administration said that its immigration crackdown is hurting farmers and risking higher food prices for Americans by cutting off agriculture’s labor supply.

___The Trump administration said that its immigration crackdown is hurting farmers and risking higher food prices for Americans by cutting off agriculture’s labor supply.

The Labor Department warned in an obscure document filed with the Federal Register last week that “the near total cessation of the inflow of illegal aliens” is threatening “the stability of domestic food production and prices for U.S. consumers.”

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/trump-administration-says-immigration-enforcement-threatens-higher-food-prices/ar-AA1OgSJt

...first they have the temerity to complain about the tariffs Trump imposed which are killing U.S. farms, and bragging about subsidizing farmers with tax revenue from the federal coffers increased by Americans ultimately paying the passed-down costs from the sellers and importers; and bearing the higher prices from manufacturers, suppliers, farms and other industries and businesses due to tariff-inflated costs related to everything from supplies, to parts and equipment, or to their inability to compete and sell their tariff-inflated products overseas.

Now they're whining about the economic consequences of their own ignorant and abusive immigration raids on farms throughout America, I'd guess to sell their perverse plan for taxpayers to foot that bill, and the cost of higher tariffs which are killing farms and raising the costs of produce, dairy, and meat for those same taxpayers bailing them out of the harm caused by Trump's ignorant scheme.

As always just pathetic. Maybe they could use ICE as a recruiting tool.

won't do it. Migrant labor is migrant. They follow the seasons and the harvests and the crops. Spring and summer in the hot south, fall in the midwest, winter in the southwest or south. Americans burdened with homes and jobs can't move around that much.

How do they know they’re ‘illegal’ – that an immigrant might be undocumented doesn’t mean he’s ‘illegal.’

The fact is that migrant farmworkers are essential to American food production and stabilizing prices.

IMHO, not really "whining". Whining would be something like IQ47 complaining on Truth Social, or Leavitt telling the assembled press corps, about the horrible shortage of farm labor.

This obscure document will be the ONLY mention of this problem from anyone even tangentially related to the regime, and I would imagine whoever heads the department that created the document will very soon be spending more time with family.

...and focus on the propaganda they're presenting on the front side.

Or take advantage of every wedge you can find to elevate the realities over the bullshit.

It's entirely up to us to do more than express cynicism about it all.

I'm just saying I wouldn't call what they're doing "whining". That would mean it's "propaganda they're presenting on the front side.", which I don't think is what they're intending. Trump himself does NOT want these facts to be public. In fact, I doubt that report was "sanctioned" by the regime at all, and I bet the official responsible for its production will be reprimanded if not fired. There's a reason it had to be dug up from "obscure federal register documents".

MHO, fwiw. And it most DEFINITELY needs as much sunlight as possible, to be sure!

...and they are definitely going to experience the consequences of this.

I refuse to believe that there aren't people behind the scenes who have enough of a grasp on reality to realize this.

Problem is, they're hiding their complaints behind a false bravado from the head office. It's up to us to make clear that we can see them worrying over this, and aren't fooled by the rhetoric celebrating the removal of the workers.

Here they are three months ago:

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins said Tuesday that there will be "no amnesty" for undocumented immigrant farmworkers when it comes to mass deportations.

Speaking at a briefing on United States farmland security, which included a plan to prevent foreign countries from owning farms, Rollins said she knew there had been "a lot of noise" around migrant farm labor in recent days, and that President Donald Trump was clear in his views.

"There will be no amnesty," she said. "The mass deportations continue, but in a strategic and intentional way as we move the workforce toward more automation and toward a 100 percent American workforce."

Rollins said that with 34 million able-bodied people on Medicaid, "we should be able to do [this] fairly quickly.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/trump-administration-gives-update-on-deporting-migrant-farm-workers/ar-AA1IcrRC

...here this rich fool is insinuating they're going to be conscripting people on Medicaid, the vast majority who are able already working, to harvest crops on these vacated farms.

Speaking at a news conference with Republican governors on Tuesday (from Wed 9 Jul 2025), Brooke Rollins said the administration would rely on “automation, also some reform within the current governing structure”, and pointed to “34 million able-bodied adults in our Medicaid program” as potential workers.

“There’s been a lot of noise in the last few days and a lot of questions about where the president stands and his vision for farm labor,” Rollins said. “There are plenty of workers in America”.
