(40,056 posts)We're living in this world of AI whether we like it or not.
Look for the power cord.

(58,608 posts)people like that YouTube channel owner who don't give a damn about how many artists have been hurt as long as they can use AI tools to generate
music they didn't play
and vocals they didn't sing
with lyrics they didn't write
and art they didn't create
and possibly even basic ideas they asked some chatbot to give them so they can keep flooding YouTube with AI slop.
It's fake creativity. It's fraud. And every AI slop video like this takes attention away from real creatives whose work was stolen by AI companies.
No one who cares AT ALL about human music, art or writing and the artists behind it should be posting this AI crap.

(40,056 posts)My parents were artists with day jobs.
My siblings are artists with day jobs.
Let's find the power cord to this AI crap and pull the plug.
I expect the Invisible Hand of the Free Market might accomplish this eventually but I am not a patient person.

I've posted a lot here over the last few years about the harm generative AI does, starting with the worldwide theft from all the people whose work was stolen to train the AI. I haven't ignored the news about artists fighting against the theft of their work by AI companies wanting to profit from it. I've known too many writers, artists, musicians, producers, photographers, actors and other creatives to think that what's being done to them by greedy AI bros and unthinking/uncaring users of AI is okay. But I'd care about that theft of intellectual property even if I didn't know those creatives, because it's one of the greatest thefts the world has ever seen. Maybe the greatest, when you consider the value of that intellectual property.
I know creatives who've considered suicide because of the theft of their work and the harm done to their livelihoods by both the AI companies and by people using AI who don't give a damn about the damage done to truly creative people as long as they can use AI to pretend they did something.

Don't reward unethical people using AI tools trained on stolen intellectual property with attention.
Post real music, not this crap.
