A friend posted a meme on Facebook that said Trump's "scared." Here's why he's not "scared."

I accept the fact that some folks may disagree with me on this, but I believe fear ONLY EXISTS when someone feels that they have no options.

Let's look at the times when Trump has ACTUALLY BEEN HELD ACCOUNTABLE in his life, and the CONSEQUENCES HE FACED EACH TIME.

1). The "C" for "COLORED" housing discrimination suit in NYC with daddy Fred.

They were marking apartment applications from African American renters with a "C" for "Colored" and they got busted. They wrote a check to settle for an undisclosed amount, "WITHOUT ADMITTING GUILT," which means they TOOK A VICTORY LAP for "being innocent."

2). Trump "University."

He wrote another check...$25 million...and it all went away. SAME FOR THE TRUMP "CHARITY." Shut down, wrote a check, buh-bye.

Trump called it a "LONG BUT WINNING TRIAL." You can see his tweet at the link I provided.

3). E Jean Carroll. He's an adjudicated rapist and he will never pay her one goddamned penny.

4). Two impeachements that made it through the House and were then cock-blocked by Turtle Mitch.

5). The "Florida Documents Case."

Well...HELLO THERE, Judge Aileen Cannon.

6). The 34 Felony Convictions in the "Hush Money Trial."

SURE...he is still a convicted felon. Now ask him if he, or his voters, or the entire Republican party give a fuck.

7). THE MUELLER REPORT, which included TEN COUNTS OF OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE, and Bill Barr's "4 page summary," which concluded that there was "NO COLLUSION, NO OBSTRUCTION."

That's not a COMPLETE LIST but writing what I shared with you is already making me vomit, so I'm gonna stop there.

But here's the point.

EXPLAIN TO ME WHY...with John Roberts' "immunity" ruling and the six Leonard Leo-approved "conservative justices" giving him EVERYTHING HE ASKED FOR SINCE JANUARY...with only TWO exceptions...WHY Trump would be "afraid."

He's been steadily CREATING CIRCUMSTANCES which would ALLOW HIM to "justify" invoking the Insurrection Act / Martial Law, so that he can pretty much do what he wants in a "state of emergency," such as CANCELING ALL UPCOMING ELECTIONS.

The REPUBLICAN HOUSE and SENATE isn't going to budge.

He IS a cornered rat. I will give you that. But he is a CORNERED RAT who is NOT WITHOUT OPTIONS and has SIX CORRUPT "SUPREME" COURT JUSTICES WATCHING HIS BACK.

Please.

Don't get energized by thinking he is "afraid." KEEP FIGHTING, KEEP RESISTING, have faith that this decaying Jack-o-Lantern on the front porch WILL eventually cave in under the weight of its own internal ROT.

I get it, and you're right, but I still felt I needed to address it, because the worse he gets...and he is getting worse every day...the more those memes are cropping up. But thank you for calling what they are...crap.

4. He's scared of losing the house in the midterms

If he loses the house, he know he will be impeached multiple times, along with several cabinet members, and there will be numerous house investigations of his administration, including his grifting and corruption, which are not protected by the Roberts court immunity ruling.

If Trump truly believed he could cancel elections (he can’t), why would he bother with coercing so many red states into gerrymandering out their safe Dem seats?

State run their elections- the feds have no authority or jurisdiction. Trump EO’s on elections, voting by mail, etc. have been ignored by the states not already using their legislatures to suppress voting.

You appear to have bought into a couple of dangerous myths that weaken our ability to resist and fight back.

Here are the truths to counter the myths:

Nationwide martial law is a physical impossibility.

They couldn’t lock down LA with 10,000 troops; troops in DC ended up on litter patrol. Courts have blocked troops in Portland and Chicago. There aren’t enough troops/ICE etc to control 340 million people across the vast 50 states.

Trump has much power, and creates much chaos and destruction, but he has very little actual control outside the executive branch and MAGA faithful.

7. You're right.

What I'm trying to say is that he's not "scared" in the way a "normal" person gets "scared."

He's "scared" in the way a dangerous person who sees resistance gets "scared."

It's a matter of degrees, of nuance, and yeah...losing the House would be a major blow to him, so let's hope that happens. No, let's just MAKE that happen.

8. Despite gerrymandering, the odds are in Dems favor

Current generic ballot polling show Dems with a 4-7 point lead over republicans- they only need 2.5-3% to overcome the 5 seat GOP net gain (assuming prop 50 passes in CA) from gerrymandering.

So, a five seat gain from gerrymandering, plus the current two seat majority means Dems have to flip 8 seats to retake the house.

Current projections are for Dem gains of 20-30 seats, without considering that the economy will almost certainly be in recession by this time next year. Combined with the healthcare cuts, the suffering of the American middle class, poor and seniors will be widespread and cut across all racial and political boundaries.

It could be a great unifying force against Trump.

Reminder: in 2018, Dems gained 40 seats.

Interesting. I both agree and respectfully disagree. Rather than focus on where I agree -- and I almost always do agree with everything I've seen from you over the years -- I'll note a few areas where I have a slightly different opinion.

I think that one of the felon's personality features is paranoia. This spans from his lack of trust in others' motives, perhaps due to projection of his own, to his sense of being persecuted by "enemies." Hence, he is obsessively mistrustful by nature, and eager to punish those he thinks have betrayed him. More, he seeks to "get over" on even those who are close to him, usually before he thinks they have opportunity to get over on him. I would say "ask Jeffrey Epstein," but it appears a tad too late for that.

When a person is scared, they have the well known options: flight, fight, or freeze. By nature and experience, he opts to fight ..... even when no one is actually posing a threat. Exactly as you have noted, he has a comfortable safety net within the political system, and thus relatively little to be afraid of at this time. Perhaps the most dangerous thing is that he becomes frustrated when he does not get his own way. It is difficult for us to imagine what his "reality" is inside his repulsive head. But he was 100% certain that he was getting a great big peace prize, for example, and is having a brat attack since being denied something President Obama got. And in any and ever attempt to compete with Obama, the fat boy will be frustrated, and be convinced it is a conspiracy against him.

I'm not sure that my areas of "respectful disagreement" could correctly be said to be distinct from what you have said. I like when there are meaningful discussions on this forum, and thus wanted to expand on your post.
