She Despised Charlie Kirk. He Resolved to Make People Like Her Pay.
In rural Texas, just 40 miles apart, a paramedic and a former small-town mayor got caught up on two sides of a digital civil war.

Mike Arnold had been trying to step back from a life in politics when the first alerts lit up his phone. As the volunteer mayor of tiny Blanco, Texas, hed been vilified for turning the holiday parade back into a Christmas parade and harassed by his fiercest critics while filling potholes. He was mocked online until a few threats began to arrive in his mailbox. Politics had become blood sport. He finished his term in May and disappeared into his familys construction business, before his phone drew him back.
Watch this! Were at war, a friend wrote last month, and Arnold, 55, clicked on the link. He saw Charlie Kirk, a fellow Christian conservative, speaking to a crowd of students in Utah. He heard the echo of a rifle. He watched Kirk go down. Arnold had hunted enough deer to recognize a kill shot, so he began to pray not for Kirks survival but for the country he was leaving behind.
As mayor, Arnold had often warned his constituents about the decline of Christian values, the spread of indecency and the fragile veneer of civility holding America together. Now he believed it was fracturing. Retreat no longer seemed like an option. He went on Facebook, changed his profile picture to one of Kirk and joined the fight online.
Time to take the gloves off, he wrote. Enough is enough.
In the weeks since Kirks murder, millions of Americans have engaged in an internet war, flooding one anothers feeds with accusations and attacks that begin onscreen and spill into the real world in places like Blanco, a town of 2,100 in Texas Hill Country. Hundreds of people have been doxxed, fired or threatened for social media posts that were perceived as callous or celebratory in the wake of Kirks death. A historic act of political violence has unleashed a wave of new threats, deepening the cycle of division in a nation splitting into two hostile sides.

(4,324 posts)Certainly not the guy in the White House. They got plenty of use out of his death already to advance their plans.

Why? Who benefitted from his death? Trump did.

(3,132 posts)until his shelf life is up - he'll be turfed under like Rush Limpdick was. I doubt his widow will get anywhere, but maybe Fox Entertainment will pick her up - they usually hire the dregs.
ETA: And yeah - funny how there is not much 'investigation' - similar to Trump's fake "assassination attempt". Nobody talks about the guy who was killed during it (probably considered 'incidental' damage by the GOP).

(10,480 posts)The Republican kids were turning anti genocide and were no longer accepting of his pro Israel views. So Charlie starts questioning Oct 7 ( he asks was it a stand down) and hes questioning the genocide. Problem is all his million dollar donors are pro Israel. His donors told him he could not have Tucker at Turning Points because Tucker was anti-genocide. Not only did Charlie have Tucker but he invited popular social media Libertarian Dave Smith who is anti genocide to debate the gross Josh Hammer and the kids clapped more for Dave, the libertarian than for Josh, the Republican.
Turning Points was a multi million dollar- like 88 million dollar business- and lots of money and lots of Trump votes could be lost.
Most hunters say gov is lying about gun and bullet, but now its taking more of a turn as supposedly many names including Tylers were searched on Google in Europe & Egypt before murder took place according to Candace.
Its like a good murder mystery - but unfortunately its real life. Most polls on X believe Israel might be involved esp after Netanyahu kept telling the press he wasnt.

Not certain what we are supposed to do.
