Tennessee sheriff defends jailing liberal activist for posting Trump meme (NewsChannel 5 Nashville)

This is unreal. The sheriff seems to be being willfully ignorant. The DA seems to be manifesting the same degree of ignorance, but he was reported not to have responded regarding this case to this reporter.

That region needs to remove both of those officials and replace them with people who have both common sense and the ability to uphold the law.

the threat to kill school kids came straight from krasnov, quoted in the meme.

"we have to get over it" displays a casual disregard for the lives of children, contrasted with the canonization of kirk.

There is no way that meme can be seen as a threat to a school...otherwise they should arrest Trump!

35 days in jail already, and no hearing on bail until December 10! So he'll spend Thanksgiving in jail!

He's the one who needs to be fired. It's not his job to police Facebook

numerous subject/verb disagreements--BUT what spoke loudly was his body language. He knows damn well he's done the wrong thing and can't find a way to back out of it.

At least the reporter and the news team held him to account.

I predict he will find a way out of it. This is egregious.

He needs to lose his job over this.

There's a precedent. The money comes from the city, but if the city can't fund it, then it goes to the county and on up until they meet the judgment. That's the way it works in most cases; maybe state law here is different but I kinda' doubt it.

I know this 'cuz I once worked with a nationally known defense lawyer who won a major case and that happened. This case was on many of the crime shows.

In this case, the award was so high that they had to raise taxes on everyone in the counties affected.

They should be prosecuted as soon as our people are in power.

It's completely illegal to arrest people for engaging in constitutionally proteced speech.

We know how this goes. There were a small circle who were politically opposed to it and the sheriff used his power to teach the Liberal a lesson.

The small insular and ignorant groups in this country should not be dictating to everyone else. If they're controlled by ignorance, then it will infringe on everyone else's life and rights. This is like the nutcase Christians who thought that the Festivus scene at the Olympics in Paris was a slight on the last supper.

do business in Tennessee, would travel there a couple times a week. Our family would spend vacation time there but when things started changing to Republican whims I cut them off as a place to go for anything. Things got worse as time has went on and I will never spend a dime there because every tax I pay would go to support the nuts that are running the state parading as a political party .
