(2,061 posts)It looks like you cant trust much he says based on what he has said and some inconvenient facts. What does it matter if he beats Collins but turns out to be Fetterman or Sinema? Its pretty easy to imagine him a smart guy doing a good job of seeking power by pretending to be whatever the electorate wants. Im sure hed love to impress his Hotchkiss classmates.

(94,629 posts)He still has a lot of supporters that are googly eyed over him. He has some very powerful people behind him 100% no matter what seems to come out from his past. On top of all that he has boatloads of money stockpiled and growing.

(1,986 posts)The hits just keep on coming. This man is a fraud, in the future I would advise democrats to vet their candidates a little better and us folks in the cheap seats need to stop falling in love with smooth talking charlatans.

(2,174 posts)Conman. Good PR until he ran out of good PR.
He can fix himself for the next 20 years and run for something Federal then.

(345 posts)From what Ive read, I would not want Platner as my Democratic Party rep running for US Senate as there seems to be too much baggage at the least. His inexperience plus evidence that he is possibly a racist, homophobe, and anti-Semite would be enough to dissuade me and my primary vote. Im not sure what would drive me to the Beacon, but it sure wouldnt be to find high school dirt on my disfavored candidate. Private school? Deep state alumni? High School attempt at a nuanced op-ed about terrorism? Every Beacon article headline gives me pause. One Year After Trump Worked the Fryer at McDonald's, There's Still No Evidence Kamala Ever Did or worse, but more impactful, Texas Health System Hit With Civil Rights Complaint Over Minority Contracting in Wake of Free Beacon Report. Actually, pretty much no Beacon headline would fly here, unless its about Platner, Mamdani, or Jay Jones. Im certainly not saying we should disagree with the Right on all issues, but the enemy of our enemy here is not our friend. Driving people to right wing websites without warning may increase the effectiveness of their MAGA propaganda.

(821 posts)One thing after another.
He needs to go back to his faux working man oyster farming job. Leave the party alone.
Lets see now:
-Nazi tattoo on chest (so either he had poor judgment / was drunk or he knew it, or he later found out and decided to keep it anyways?)
-Black people dont tip (Im paraphrasing; Im surprised his comments werent even worse)
-all sorts of crude anti gay comments (in his mid thirties?)
-Im a communist (brilliant thing to say running for the senate)
-white people are dumb (isnt Maine like 90% white?)
-white people are mostly racist (great way to go for the voters there!)
-9/11 terrorists are just misunderstood (well this is new)
-now has staff signing NDAs (and I thought he was being transparent earlier getting ahead of the stories; I was wrong!)
Honestly I dont even care whether he went to a prep school or not. The faux working class thing is super cliched, but so many politicians use that, I can almost look past it.
The rest of the shit? wtf? Hes a grown ass
man making all sorts of dumb crude comments. It sounds like the idiots near this administration, like Musk commenting about Duffy or something being so gay or Cheung and Leavitt basically saying yo mamma in response to a reporter to a reporter.
Bunch of middle schoolers running the country now.

(28,515 posts)Silly to cave to the working class obsession and pretend. Nobody cares except the ones trying to fool people into thinking FDR was a democratic socialist -- they have no problem with hypocrisy.
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Sounds familiar. What's the next line? "Go ask Nelson Mandela"?

As for your other RW source, The Free Beacon, that is also a horrid OP choice:

You should pull this RW-sourced OP down now.
