jamie raskin on MTG and the democratic party

Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

We can welcome allies of convenience. We do not have to set a place at the table for someone that opposes every one of our core values.

If you pour a cup of sewage into a pot of soup, you don’t get more soup; you just now have a pot of sewage.

It's another to think they won't abandon us at the drop of a hat. We would or could see a temporary increase in the number of registered Democrats, giving us a false sense of accomplishment. Accepting any high profile Republican into the party can have the same result of looking good on paper while still having no chance of a positive outcome.

It would be nice if she voted with us on important issues, but even if she didn't vote with us... we would be closer to (or actually IN the majority) and Johnson would be out... Jeffries would be in.

Rather than focusing on how she'd vote or whether she'd be a good ally for the Democratic party is secondary right now. We need to get control of the House... and if she switched to become a Democrat, that would put is closer to that VERY important and VERY meaningful change.

She is a shameless opportunist and a backstabber who is not to be trusted. The Democratic Party would have another Fetterman or Sinema on their hands if they brought her into the fold. And she would never win her ruby red district as a Democratic candidate anyway.

I like Jamie Raskin and I think he does a good job in Congress. But I am sending an email to his office today expressing my dismay over his statement.

And we shouldn’t invite her and her ilk into our party. We can still work with her on common goals while she’s a Republican, that’s called bipartisanship. WTF, Raskin?

MTG or Chuck Schumer. Who is leading an effective and bols opposition to Trump? Who is currently demonstrating moral courage? I'm as disgusted as anyone with MTG's past and positions. Maybe its entirely for MTG's selfish reasons but as mind twisting as it is....she could be helping to end Trump!

She needs to explain herself and all those idiotic conspiracy theories she pushed. Denounce all that 2020 election hoax and Jewish space laser crap first. She did a lot of damage and simple apology is a start but not enough.
