https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/amazon-deletes-ai-recap-falloutThe tool, now deployed in beta form, generates everything from narration, dialogue, and music to summarize key plot points, allowing fans to quickly catch up on their favorite shows.
At least, that was the idea. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the AI tool has already made an enormous mess by bungling up the details of a hit show, suffering from the common shortcomings of the tech weve become all too familiar with.
As GamesRadar reports, the recap of Season 1 for the companys popular series Fallout show was riddled with errors before being taken down by Amazon last week. For instance, the recap assumed that flashbacks from the perspective of the character Cooper Howard also known as the Ghoul, played by actor Walton Goggins were set in the 1950s, even though the show and the flashbacks are set in 2077 and the 2060s, respectively.

Hey, it was only off by a bit more than a century...
Much more at the link.
GenAI is notorious for botching summaries, but the AI peddlers keep pushing that use for it anyway.

(5,545 posts)just keep throwing billions of dollars at AI, sooner or later it will be half as good as human produced content.
Maybe, if you throw enough billions, you can even get AI to subscribe to your services too!

(35,075 posts)I have severe ADD when attempting to watch shows. It's mostly self inflicted.
Yesterday, I noticed the AI recap feature and thought it was a cool new addition. The biggest hurdle I have in getting through my watch list is that I frequently pause to do other things, and when I finally get back around to watching whatever it was that I was watching, I can't remember what happened. Also, I can't remember previous seasons of a show, but at the same time, because of how long my watch list is, I refuse to rewatch previous episodes or restart the movie.
Needless to say, I won't be using the AI recap feature. It would make more sense if they linked it to a YouTube recap video or something.
