(55,166 posts)I agree it's a pain in the butt, also known as PITA. I am so confused. And I have rejected authentication sites because they are so sparse I thought they were hackers or spammers. I'm not sure that's going over well, with them of course.

HHS tech office proposes to gut and reset health IT policy
The deregulatory rule is an explicit effort to carry out President Donald Trumps executive order (EO) 14192 "Unleashing Prosperity Through Deregulation."

Some of the other requirements the office proposes to remove are family health history, audit reports, multi-factor authentication, safety-enhanced design and accessibility-centered design. The proposed rule says the requirements are no longer necessary to advance interoperability and no longer provide a strong market driver for initial adoption and implementation of the certified functionalities.

(1,260 posts)Ive been using ID.me for Social Security and VA for awhile now and its not that difficult to setup or use.
Here are the instructions for SSA - once you create the account you can use it for other government sites.

(944 posts)Login.gov has been working really well for me.
I do not, nor will I, use my phone to interface with my hospital, Medicare, Soc Security, my variable annuity, etc, etc.

(1,260 posts)Login.gov is a government service while ID.me is a third-party service but you can use either one for most government services for the time being. Dont know what future plans are.

(25,648 posts)There's a bunch of authentication hoops to jump through, but they're finite and the login service itself works adequately, although 2-factor auths do take a bit longer.
