(4,088 posts)Even at 3-4° warming, our economies and societies will break down. Massive loss of life.
But hothouse earth is extinction of most if not all life.
People don't grasp it or pay attention to it because it's too enormous and think it won't touch them. Too far into the future, so they think. But it may be coming soon enough for our grandkids to experience the impact. We have got to hammer that home somehow because caring about generations into the future is not something our species is good at. But our grandkids?

(1,981 posts)both in GD and the Environment & Energy Group for years and they usually get no responses, few recs.
If you can't get politically minded liberals to push this issue to the top, how could you ever convince the average person to understand not only how bad things are (past many tipping points) but that it is happening right next door if not in your area?
The media bombardment (amped up to "11" with AI slop) of disinformation like "climate change is a liberal hoax" or ignoring the BIG worldwide events of catastrophic flooding, drought, animal extinctions, the real reasons for migrations, etc has made most people tune out, just the way the billionaires want them. Ignorant and pliable. And shopping.
And those who choose not to believe it or care about it because it's uncomfortable, well, they're gonna be a whole helluva lot more uncomfortable when the food shortages and deaths pile up in the near future.
