TEHRAN, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Sunday it struck three oil tankers belonging to the United States and Britain in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz with missiles, setting the vessels on fire.

In a statement on its official outlet Sepah News, the IRGC said it also targeted U.S. military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain. It said strikes on Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait rendered it completely out of service, destroyed three naval infrastructure structures at the Mohammed Al-Ahmad naval base, and hit a U.S. naval command and backup center in Bahrain.

Another U.S. base in Bahrain was reportedly hit by two ballistic missiles. The IRGC claimed the attacks caused 560 U.S. casualties, though the U.S. has not confirmed the report ...

500 US dead. I thought this was a direct Iranian media report. They have a closed off audience. They can tell there own people anything.

I am skeptical of those numbers being inflated. I also worry that the US numbers could be under reported. Non fatal concussive injuries can very debilitating.

Daniel Thomas and Ben Hatton

At least three ships have been attacked near the Strait of Hormuz, as Iran continues to launch strikes across the Middle East in response to an ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Two vessels have been struck, and an "unknown projectile" was reported to have "exploded in very close proximity" to a third, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO) said.

Iran has warned ships not to pass through the strait, which carries about 20% of the world's oil and gas.

International shipping has almost come to a standstill at the strait's entrance, with fears of disruption already pushing up global oil prices ...

Check out the movie Countdown to Looking Glass. It is essentially about how badly sideways things can go when the concept of "maintaining freedom of navigation" is carried to extremes. The fictional movie President elects to be the tough guy. I have no confidence that our wanna be tough guy President will make the correct decision.

What's the plan again Donny?
