I'm sure a few folks on here recall the 1970s long lines for gasoline.... Well, that's gonna make a comeback.

Some places it could take you an hour to get up to a gas pump, and then they might be out of gasoline for the day…
I’ll be damned, we never learn…🤦‍♂️

There was another gas shortage in 1979, same thing all the way from Pittsburgh to Miami. It took us almost a week and a half to get there.

it can fetch the highest price. There was an Obama-era Presidential decree that kept domestic production domestic, but that was one of the first things Trump put an end to in his first go-round, probably at the urging of Rex Tillerson and other extractive-industry buddies. Biden did not bring it back, which probably just would have led to its repeal again anyway.

I have no idea what's going to happen to oil prices when they start trading later today, but I expect a rise. If I had an internal-combustion vehicle, which I don't, I'd have filled it up yesterday when I first heard of bombs falling.

In the 1970s, we imported 1/3 of our oil, and almost all of that came from the Middle East. Now we're a net exporter by millions of barrels per day.

The US produces nearly 70% of national consumption.
Add Canada, Mexico, & Venezuela and there is more need for Middle Eastern oil.
In addition, the nearly 14 million bbl/day produced in this country occurs while operating pumps at under 80% of current capacity.
Finally, I lived about 30 miles from Chicago during the embargo. Gas lines were VERY uncommon.
