US, Ecuadorian forces took action in Ecuador to combat drug trafficking, US military says

March 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. military's Southern Command ​said on Tuesday ‌that Ecuadorian and U.S. forces launched ​operations against what ​it said were designated ⁠terrorist organizations ​in Ecuador.

The Southern Command, ​which is the U.S. military's combatant command ​that encompasses 31 ​countries through South and ‌Central ⁠America and the Caribbean, said that the action was ​meant ​to ⁠combat illicit drug trafficking, but ​did not ​provide ⁠more details in a statement on ⁠social ​media website ​X.
