I miss it.
It was far from perfect, but there was much to be admired.

Turns out, I was dead wrong.
There are a scary number of people who want to see the world burn, as long as they don't have to pretend to be decent humans anymore.

With a constitution.
Courts and Congress would do their jobs.
And the institutions and corporations all believed in rule of law and the American dream.
Yes we found out that a big chunk of our country consists of psychopaths
and those who love and adore psychopath leaders.
We have had to swallow an ugly reality sandwich.

But....we are slipping back into the darkest spaces we have fought to bring the light.
