https://indivisible.actionkit.com/mailings/view/125972DU'ers,
For the past several days, federal agents have attacked and pepper-sprayed protesters -- including US Senator Andy Kim -- organizing against brutal conditions at Delaney Hall immigrant detention center in New Jersey.
Delaney is one of many detention centers nationwide where people detained have reported unbearable, inhumane conditions. The situation there has gotten so bad -- with reports of spoiled food, a lack of drinking water, and overheated/overcrowded rooms amidst a heat wave -- that immigrants locked there are undertaking a hunger strike in protest.
Despite the inhumane treatment of community members detained inside Delaney and the brutal response to peaceful protesters outside by ICE and Border Patrol, Republicans in Washington are still trying to shovel billions more to these deadly, out-of-control agencies to build more detention centers and kidnap more of our neighbors.
Fortunately, our fight to stop them is working. Thanks in large part to your organizing, Republicans failed to pass their ICE/Border Patrol funding bill by Trumps deadline and left town last week.
Since January, weve been organizing to block additional funding for these agencies. Again and again, weve defied the odds and prevented a penny of additional funding from going to ICE and Border Patrol thugs. Events over the past few days are a reminder why we must win this fight. So were coming to you today to ask for your support.
All of our organizing work to fight the Trump deportation machine depends on grassroots donors. Republicans have stumbled again, but theyre not done trying -- so we desperately need your help to keep up the fight. If youre able to donate today, please pitch in to ensure this movement has the resources it needs to continue the fight against ICE and Border Patrol brutality. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/indivisible-project-1 ActBlue Link.
An update on last weeks events: Republicans were supposed to vote this past weekend on their reconciliation bill, which would have given billions more to ICE and Border Patrol. But public pressure created cracks in party unity. Members started expressing concern over the lack of guardrails on ICE and Border Patrol, some objected to continued family separation policies, and behind the scenes, we were hearing the GOP might not have the votes to pass it by the deadline. Then, backlash over Trumps $1.8 billion slush fund turned those cracks into chasms. The House and Senate went home, punting the funding bill until after the recess.
The delay is a major win, but the fight isnt over. When Congress is back in session in June, Republicans will get another chance to pass this funding. We need to keep organizing to deepen the divides in the GOP, turn the heat up on the most vulnerable Republicans in Congress, and ensure ICE and Border Patrol dont get a single penny in additional funding.
While we work to block the reconciliation bill, we also need our Members of Congress to respond to the immediate crisis that immigrants in detention centers are already facing, so whether or not youre able to donate today, please:
Call your representative (includes a script) and demand they investigate ICEs detention facilities, expose the conditions that immigrants are facing, and block any additional funding for ICE and Border Patrol.
Call both of your senators (includes a script) and demand the same. Then, encourage your friends and neighbors to call their Members of Congress, too.
The work youve done since January matters. ICE and Border Patrol have had to spend down their funds because weve blocked new injections month after month. And the longer it goes on, the more ICE and Border Patrol have shown the public how dangerous they are and made it even harder for the vulnerable Republicans to justify giving them tens of billions of dollars more.
This latest gift buys us more time to keep up and win this fight. But we need the resources to continue waging this battle. So please -- donate if you can. And continue taking action.
Together we can hold ICE and Border Patrol accountable for their human rights abuses -- and ensure they dont get a single penny in additional funding for their brutality.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team

Hi, my name is [Your Name], and Im a constituent from [Your City, State]. I am calling today to ask that [Senator/Representative Name] publicly use every tool at their disposal to reject the violence happening at Delaney Hall and detention centers around the country.
Specifically, I urge Senator/Representative (Name) to do the following:
Draw attention to the conditions at Delaney Hall
Investigate ICE detaining thousands of immigrants under dangerous conditions
Oppose any additional funding for ICE, or Border Patrol
I expect [Senator/Representative Name] to use their power as my elected official to demand dignity for immigrants and reject any expansions to Trumps mass detention and deportation agenda.
