The Economist: “Donald Trump this week became the most unpopular president since our poll started in 2009. His net approval rating is -24. The war in Iran has hurt Mr Trump’s standing: his net approval rating for foreign policy is -20. But it is his handling of the economy that is really dragging him down. Three-quarters of Americans think that its condition is ‘fair’ or ‘poor’, and 63% think that it is getting worse.”

“If that doesn’t change it will hurt the Republican Party in November’s midterm elections. Our forecasting model says that the Democrats have a nine-in-ten chance of winning control of the House of Representatives. The Senate is a toss-up.”

So, if negative 20 is 40% approve and 60% disapprove (The difference between the two is 20), then negative 24 would be 36% approve and 64% disapprove.

5. I think he no longer cares about his approval rating

He doesn't care if the House and Senate flip. He knows Republicans will still let him do as he wants. In others words, there aren't 67 votes to convict him in the Senate if the House impeaches.

The last two years of Trump's term will be a money grab. He has already started that. It'll continue.
