He has done so many terrible things that it is hard to pick the worst.
If he had just stayed a private citizen and continued his thievery and grifting, the world would have been much better off. But, once he achieved power, he became a danger to us all. He was going to use it to increase his wealth and satisfy his power ego.
With his malevolent, narcissistic personality, he wanted to be king of the world. He would use the power of the US military to further his goals. He would wheel and deal around the world to become more wealthy. He never thought in a "national" sense. Everything was personal for him. History did not exist.
But with all his grifting and lying and thievery, it was not his worst act.
It was when he mocked the handicapped reporter. It was when he slandered people that we admired, such as John McCain and Jimmy Carter. He liked his heroes that didn't get captured. He de-humanized people and our society. He divided everyone into friends and foes.
His very worst act was dividing friends and families. He tore them apart because he attacked their basic belief systems. He was like a cancer on society. He was toxic and his supporters loved him. They accepted his destructive words and actions and cheered his every threat. For some folks, his words and actions ran counter to everything they ever believed. They could not surrender their souls to such demagoguery and evil. They would surrender their friends and family before they would do that.
That was the worst that Trump did to America.

(1,515 posts)I avoid spending too much time with other friends. I am not attending a school reunion in part because of this.
COVID followed by Trump 2 have led to a lot of damaging isolation and loneliness.
He made the pandemic much worse than it already was, by attacking those that would wear masks to protect their fellow Americans and themselves from the deadly virus.
There were violent disagreements.
How many of us have not lost friends and family members to the cult of Trump?

(4,838 posts)Over half of my class are trumpers (SW Pennsylvania). I was very active in my class and it breaks my heart that people I was friends still support the Orange Monster. He has done so much irreparable damage to this country.
