This is so evil. I am so ashamed of my country. I am in despair.

US plans to deport Iranians to Central African Republic, sources say

DAKAR/NAIROBI, June 11 (Reuters) - The Trump administration plans to deport a number of Iranians and other migrants to Central African Republic, a chronically unstable country racked by violence and poverty, ‌two lawyers and an official briefed on the matter told Reuters.

The Iranians include two women who face potential torture and persecution if they are forced to go back to Iran, their lawyer, Emily Trostle, said. One is a Christian convert and the other is a pro-democracy activist, she added.

The U.S. State Department and the presidency in the Central African Republic — which recently reached a deal to accept so-called third-country deportees from the U.S. — did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Both the women were detained upon arriving in the U.S. in November 2024, Trostle said. They applied for asylum in the U.S. and had secured a form of protection known as withholding of removal from a U.S. immigration judge, Trostle said.

I thought the Trump admin was all about protecting persecuted Christians?

I want all involved with this regime to die horrible, painful deaths.

Buddhists are NOT pacifists.

It is OK to do harm to prevent greater harm.
(Like killing microbes to prevent illness).

At this point, I'm willing to accept the karma of wishing harm to these evil doers.
I am incapable of doing actual violence to stop them, so sending my bad vibes is really the "best" thing I can do.

Our Tibetan teacher said it’s not wrong to wish a short life for those who hurt others. I don’t
know 🤷 if that’s the best path, but, I don’t disagree right now.

BODHISATTVA WARRIORS
by Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche

Many great Buddhist masters have prophesied that centuries from
now, when the forces of aggression amass on earth and no reason can
turn them back, the kingdom of Shambhala will open its gates and its
enlightened warriors will come forth into battle. Whoever they
encounter will be given a choice--turn away from non virtue to virtue
or, by direct, wrathful intervention, be liberated into a pure land
beyond suffering.

A Buddhist story tells of a ferry captain whose boat was carrying
500 bodhisattvas in the guise of merchants. A robber on board planned
to kill everyone and pirate the ship's cargo.

The captain, a bodhisattva himself, saw the man's murderous
intention and realized this crime would result in eons of torment for
the murderer. In his compassion, the captain was willing to take
hellish torment upon himself by killing the man to prevent karmic
suffering that would be infinity greater than the suffering of the
murdered victims. The captain's compassion was impartial; his
motivation was utterly selfless.

Now, as I write this, the Middle East is inflamed with war.
Watching the television news, I pray that this war will prevent
greater wars, greater suffering, and that those opposed to war develop
the skills to bring about authentic peace. We cannot fully discern
the motivation of any participants involved in the conflict, but it is
unlikely that many have the ability to bring about ultimate liberation
for friends and enemies alike, or that they will be able to sustain
the bodhisattva's impartial compassion as they engage in conflict.

What we can know is our own minds. We can adhere to Buddhist ideals
in our activities, whether we are combatants, protestors, decision-
makers or concerned witnesses. We can pray that whatever virtue there
is in the situation prevails, that genuine peace be established. The
Buddha has taught that throughout countless lifetimes all beings have
been our parents and have shown us great kindness. Now they have
fallen under the sway of the mind's poisons of desire, anger,
ignorance, and they suffer terribly. Could we exclude any from our
compassion any more than the sun could exclude any from the warmth and
radiance of its rays.

Here's a snippet from WHO Public Health Situation Analysis (PHSA)

SUMMARY OF CRISIS AND KEY FINDINGS
The Central African Republic (CAR) continues to face a protracted humanitarian crisis characterized by
armed conflicts, large-scale population displacements, natural disasters, attacks on healthcare facilities,
and widespread gender-based violence.
Twelve years of conflict have exacerbated long-standing structural vulnerabilities and pushed 2.4 million
people (38% of the population), including 1.1 million children, into crisis conditions.3
Betwee September 2025 and March 2026 around 1.92 million people are experiencing high levels of acute
food insecurity, including 269 000 people classified in IPC Phase 4 (Emergency).4 CAR remains heavily
dependent on international humanitarian assistance, rendering it particularly vulnerable, in a context of
significant reductions in aid.5

I was relatively safe because of who I was living with. It's a beautiul country.

But its desperately poor and there are many conflicts. Its not a safe place for any kind of visitor, much less a refugee. I am sure that the loss of USAID has had a devastating effect.

Way to make a bad situation worse.

When my roommate left they were flying over Uganda when they (2 small planes) got a radio call to land at the airport. They were ordered out of the planes at gunpoint. They pretty much thought they were going to be executed. Instead the Ugandans rifled through their luggage and then detained them for an hour. Finally they were told to leave, so they had to fly to Nairobi in the dark.

In Africa you don't want to fly in the dark. They made it safely though.

May Needy Amin be the closest we ever get to that - because, as you know, for some of our fellow Americans that's already (context aside) pretty much what it's been like.

as well as the trade language and French. They had great relationships with the local powers. This is what keeps you safe in that kind of situation. People know you and know they can trust you even if they don't understand you.

I remember being told during the first week "If someone asks for your camera, hand it to them. Do not resist or argue." That never happened. But I immediately realized that the most dangerous people were the ones in power, even at a low level.

Bokassa was not as well known around the world but he was a really bad guy who slaughtered schoolchildren.

And I'm getting tired of the supposed excuse for them that they're in a bubble and don't hear anything but Fox Lies and rightwing lies on Facebook.

I guarantee that every single one of those people have family, friends, coworkers, or local news that show them the reality of things under Chump. They KNOW the price of gas. They KNOW the pain in their community. etc.

Guess we all gotta hit rock bottom with them before it changes.
