Ohio was once the ultimate swing state, choosing the winner in all but two presidential elections between 1912 and 2012.
But President Donald Trump changed that.
Ohio voters lurched hard to the right, and Democrats struggled to win statewide contests over the past decade thanks to working-class white voters buying into Trumps fake businessman schtick and culture war garbage.
Ohios Democratic Senate nominee Sherrod Brown leads incumbent GOP Sen. Jon Husted by 8 points in a Fox News poll.
But something is afoot in 2026, with polls showing that Ohio voters are not only turning against Trump, but also against the GOP.

I sure am glad that Sherrod Brown came back to challenge this un-elected GOP Senate incumbent this year--
other than for the back-lash against Democrats over inflation in 2024, he wouldn't have lost his previous seat...
and NO, the economic back-lash against Democrats over inflation was not warranted,
if more voters had more knowledge about world-wide economic conditions at the time,
they would have known that US inflation was about the lowest in the world---
but instead they were only reacting against their own inflation difficulties,
and chose to believe the baseless lies of a pathological liar (Trump)--- sigh
However, 'the worm' seems to be turning, and the pendulum is swinging back in the opposite direction...

(5,373 posts)and if we hold on to the seats we now hold, that would get the job done even WITHOUT Maine....!
Heck, on-the-ground noise says that even IOWA might be in play,
because of all the Trump back-lash, and being an open seat now....

(38,180 posts)Is a better pick up than Texas. Iowa has voted for a Democratic President twice in this century. I also think these folks are sick of this bullshit.
Texas is going to Texas. The Latino community (overwhelmingly Roman Catholic) always falls for the Magapubs anti abortion, anti lgbtqi, anti Black nonsense. I don't trust them.
