Israel, Stunned by Trump’s Iran Deal, Sees It as a ‘Catastrophic Capitulation’
Analysts said the agreement accomplishes none of Israel’s war aims and leaves the country in worse shape on each of them.

Israel awoke to a frightening new reality on Thursday as it absorbed, with disbelief and largely in silence, the terms of President Trump’s agreement to end the war with Iran.

It is a disastrous deal from Israel’s point of view, analysts said, because it accomplishes none of Israel’s war aims and arguably leaves the country in worse shape on each of them.

“It’s a bad agreement in which the Americans are paying with cash, and got, at the maximum, a letter of intent,” Yaakov Amidror, a hawkish former national security adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, said in an interview.

David Horovitz, the editor of The Times of Israel, called it “a catastrophic capitulation,” in the headline of a lengthy opinion column.

And Nir Dvori, an analyst for Israel’s Channel 12 News, likened the deal to a “diplomatic Oct. 7” — a cataclysmic disaster for which Israel was wholly unprepared.

Regime change? The government in Tehran is emerging from the war even more hard-line and emboldened, despite being decapitated at the outset of the conflict in late February. Some analysts said Iran had effectively chased the U.S. military out of the region, given the deal’s requirement that American forces retreat from the “proximity” of Iran within 30 days.

Iran can use a tiny fraction of Trump's gift (300 BILLION) to revive Hamas and Hezbollah. And there will be a new stream of revenues from ships passing through Hormuz.

Bibi was so arrogant to believe he could control Trump. Bibi talked Trump into attacking Iran not understanding that as soon as the "war" affected Trump peronally, Bibi would be thrown under the bus. Bibi failed to understand that Trump cares exclusively about himself in addition to being mentally ill.

I suppose one could consider this karma for all the death and destruction Bibi's government has unleased on Gaza, Lebanon and Palestinians.

4. It is a bad deal for Israel because they don't want to solve the nuclear issue

So they can’t have Trump out there saying that Iran committed to not having nukes. Their political stance is to maintain the specter of nuclear annihilation from Iran. It’s basically the same issue as they had with the Obama deal, except much worse because Iran gets a lot more money.

Israel should have known that this was a likely outcome. Trump is a bully and has no appetite for actual combat, especially if it creates political pressure where he can be blamed. He also is self-interested in claiming to make a deal. So he would take any deal to be able to claim he accomplished something.

14. Should be a good deal for them then

This does nothing to solve the nuclear issue.

What Israel is upset about is the $450B Iran could get from this to rebuild their armies and fund Hamas and Hezbollah. But at this point, I think it's time the US cut Israel loose. If we have a deal with Iran that ensures they don't attack our interests, why should we care if they fight with Israel? We get zero from our support of Israel and Israel does little but bomb innocents and torture prisoners.

5. Yes, Trump is easily manipulated by flattery and praise.

But his incompetence and narcissism guarantee that attempts to manipulate him will eventually blow up and end in failure. Why it takes so long for some to learn that, I do not know.

it would turn out.

Are the unaware of who Trump is?

Are they unaware that he chose the most imcompetent and malevolent group of dipshits ever to walk on the planet?

Did they think that would go well?

Apparently that orange tinted motherfucker isn't the only idiot running a country these days.

9. Joining Israel in this disastrous war was the worst

mistake the US has made in decades. Nearly depleted arsenal, nearly depleted oil reserves, and a collapse of status on the world stage ...

I really thought tRump was going to triple and quadruple down on this quagmire but I'm praying that his team fully understands that we just don't have the cards. We lost. Period.

But somehow Israel wants the US to continue? That's clearly not an ally. What is their ultimate goal? It seems as though part of their aim is to destroy the US along with Iran.

We should be doing everything in our power to stop this ridiculous mandatory intelligence sharing idea.

11. Krasnov can't resume bombing Iran

because $7/gal gas on the 4th of July would be catastrophic for Krasnov.

Krasnov had no choice but to surrender, his fossil fuel friends I suspect will keep gas around $4/gal. maybe lower?

10. Bibi needed Krasnov's endorsement for his upcoming election,

Krasnov "was" more popular in Israel than Bibi was. I'm wondering how that rolls out now after Krasnov's surrender to Iran? Krasnov may have also doomed Bibi politically, and a jail cell may await Bibi?

Everything Krasnov touches dies.
