Are some Republicans trying to slowly ease out of Trump's orbit?

Especially the ones up for re-election?

They are hedging their bets. Maybe Trump is losing some appeal amongst Republican voters and they may want to put a little distance between themselves and the convicted criminal?

But, up to now, they have been with him through every crime and debacle. Make no mistake about that.

Some of the criticism coming from the Republican side does seem rather unusual. But it is coming very slowly and very cautiously.

Perhaps they want to have their cake and eat it too?
