Suzette Osborne awarded $2 million in assault case against Dr. Andrew Osborne

A Houston County jury awarded $2 million to Suzette Osborne, former wife of Dr. Andrew Osborne, who was convicted of second-degree domestic abuse against her in 2011.

Suzette Osborne filed a civil suit against Osborne about four and a half years ago, claiming assault and battery. On Monday, the jury awarded Suzette Osborne $800,000 in compensatory damages and $1.2 million in punitive damages.

According to police reports, Osborne struck Suzette Osborne more than 24 times in the fall of 2010. Court records said Suzette Osborne suffered vertigo and diminished hearing as a result of the incident.

Osborne was convicted of second-degree domestic violence in June 2011 and later appealed the conviction. The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the conviction in 2012, and a later petition for a new trial was denied.
