Jeffries: Cuomo comeback bid would draw 'a lot' of interest

Source: The Hill

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said a potential political comeback bid from former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) would draw “a lot” of interest from constituents in the Empire State.

Jeffries told Spectrum News NY1 on Wednesday that he hasn’t spoken with Cuomo but looks forward to speaking with him “sooner rather than later” if he enters the New York City mayoral race, as he is expected to do.

The House Democratic leader declined to take a position on Cuomo’s expected candidacy but said a bid from Cuomo to replace Mayor Eric Adams (D) would draw interest from many voters.

“I think he’d be a candidate that a lot of people, as I’ve heard from the district that I represent, would be very interested in checking out,” Jeffries said.

I remember how they inflicted a kind of terror on the NYC subways going back 45 or so years ago.

Supposedly, they only beat up the bad guys.

Alas, dealing with Cuomo may be inevitable. Cuomo winning is possible.

from the past to replace the current batch of disgraced politicians. And Bob Menendez will probably be set up to primary AOC after Trump pardons him, because "we" need to be more moderate.

Someone here once asked what "liberal elitism" is. Behold.

And Anthony Weiner might throw his hat in the ring. Why are corrupt politicians able to rekindle their careers? They need to crawl back in their hole where they belong. Their thirst for power is bottomless.

You just heard one CORPORATE DEMOCRAT, Jeffries, ask you to vote for another CORPORATE DEMOCRAT, Cuomo, to run for office. All the while the DCCC AND DNCC will finance the running of a corporate democrat when there is a Progressive running for office. Wake up I will keep saying this to my dying day: "due to unhappy republicans leaving the party and coming over to the Democratic Party we have become a one party system. You either vote for a republican lite, democrat, or you vote for a crazy republican. Either way they win, what was once the Democratic Party is now the Progressive Party who lacks the funds to truly gain political power. The funding of the parties is brought to you by the Citizens United Case which the supreme court decided that BRIBERY IS LEGAL. For so many years I refused to send money until I heard the Democratic Party fighting against the money in politics. Now, when's the last time you heard anyone talk about fixing the voting systems influx of money, it's only gotten worse and they have found newer way to hide where the money is coming from. Both republican parties, the lite and crazy, love the influx of money and don't plan to change anything at all. Only the Progressive Party is speaking out against the influx of money into the political system. THEREFORE GET USED TO THE OLIGARCARY AND FASCIST system that the "supreme court" has said is legal...

Jeffries did not in fact ask anyone to vote for Cuomo in this statement.

Tell me more about this progressive party you speak of.

Hakeem Jeffries is doing the best anybody could do in this situation and deserves support. Citizens United was a horrendous generationaly destructive, possibly democracy ending ruling.

Jeffries political small individual contributions is around 38% while his large funding is around 62% who do you think he is listening to? Hakeem started by speaking like a Progressive and now, like Fetterman, his speech leans right. Again (why?) citizens united has caused this problem 1. speak like you support progressive stances in order to get elected, 2. get elected and swing right in order to gain financing for his reelection. I still remember the days when our politicians were looking for things that would help their constituents and now they sit by their phones waiting for big money doners to call and promise them large sums of money. Legal bribery is killing our Democratic structure and if people fear what trump is doing imagine what someone with a brain can do, I guess we will have to learn to speak russian?

Imo, Andrew would win. He’s an aashole but got shit done. I know as my H worked for him in high administration positions for many years. He was civil service employee but eventually was in a “serve at the pleasure of” position. He was beyond difficult to work for and my husband’s work life was hell, but shit got done.

H was actually able to deal with him effectively because he spoke his mind and wasn’t afraid to say shit like, “you can’t do that, Governor.
