Three charged in arson attacks on Tesla properties

Source: Axios

Three people have been charged on suspicion of violently destroying Tesla properties, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Thursday.

The big picture: President Trump's attorney general a day earlier characterized the recent string of vandalism at Tesla dealerships as acts of "domestic terrorism," and threatened "severe consequences" for those involved.

  • The Department of Justice said Thursday it's "committed to ending all acts of violence and arson directed at Tesla properties and otherwise."

  • Driving the news: All three individuals, each in different states, are accused of using Molotov cocktails to set fire to Tesla cars, dealerships or charging stations.

  • One armed with a suppressed AR-15 rifle was arrested after allegedly throwing eight Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership in Salem, Oregon.
  • Another was arrested in Loveland, Colorado, after allegedly attempting to light Tesla vehicles on fire using Molotov cocktails.
  • A third person was taken into custody in Charleston, South Carolina, for writing "profane messages against President Trump around Tesla charging stations before lighting the charging stations on fire with Molotov cocktails."

  • What she's saying: "The days of committing crimes without consequence have ended," Bondi said in a statement. "Let this be a warning: if you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, the Department of Justice will put you behind bars."

Where the dumb people are very visable. . One bright guy keyed a Tesla in a lot in front of his apartment and the Tesla camera recorded the address marked over his apartment as he was entering.

Another shows a guy keying a Tesla in the dark so he gets a flashlight out to see what he is doing- and of course, then we see his face.

The grossest of the many videos - with a good view of the guy from Tesla camera - man sticks his hand down back of his pants and smears feces on Tesla. They will probably get him on more severe charges I assume. Not the brightest!!

If Volvos were attacked, it would indicate all Volvo owners were being attacked, as a group. This could conceivably used to meet the definition of terrorism, depending on the assumed intent or focus.

since there were multiple "similar" crimes committed in 3 different states (in this particular set of prosecutions), then yes, they will usually get involved to determine if this was "organized".

Stuff like Takedown Tesla is well-intentioned, but any time you get a large group of people together there are going to be some bad apples. All it takes is one bad apple being in proximity and then there is an appearance of association.

    https://actionnetwork.org/event_campaigns/teslatakedown

Then when these bad apples are part of the same group, operating across state lines, accessing common money pools, etc.

Basically, too much centralization. The ANTIFA model works great because it doesn't have these sorts of linkages.

Where can I contribute to the legal defense funds of these (misguided) patriots? When the population is at the effect of a fascist authoritarian takeover by a foreign born despot, and that despot shows NO signs of stoping the assault….some “things” are gonna get broken in response and as collateral damage. Glad no ppl were hurt or injured, but I fear that this is only the beginning.
