Steve Kornacki Out at MSNBC, Inks New Deal With NBC News and Sports Teams

Source: MEDIAite

Apr 1st, 2025, 12:58 pm

MSNBC data guru Steve Kornacki is exiting the cable news network after inking a new deal with NBC News and NBC Sports as parent company Comcast preps a spin-off of its cable networks.

Kornacki, a staple of election coverage along with his big board of data, will assume the title of chief data analyst at NBC News and NBC Sports, according to the LA Times. Kornacki has long been a national political correspondent for NBC News, while pulling double duty on MSNBC as well.

Kornacki will transition to a new position as an NBC news contributor, while also working on Meet the Press, political coverage on NBC and NBC Sports.

Comcast, NBC’s parent company, announced in November that it intends to spin off its cable properties into separate entities, the Wall Street Journal reported.

It would be even better if khaki-boy were being jettisoned by NBC as well, but these days I'll take whatever positive news I can find.

He was totally irritating to watch. It may not be all his fault as if we had normal politicians running against each other his "horse race" giddiness may be been more tolerable. I am sure NBC loves him though or they wouldn't be keeping him while throwing away MSNBC to whatever which to me means they think Kornacki will be more receptive to conservatives. Gotta please Donald Dump.

have always enjoyed his polling and election returns analysis!

Glad I'll still see him on NBC, since I don't have cable anyway.

Glad all you MSNBC watchers who hate him won't have to watch him anymore--
if you consider that so important in the grand scheme of what's happening in
our country and the world today, and if Steve ranks so high in whom you think
you should be irritated by, and even "hate"....

I may vaguely recall that polling report from Steve... and prayed he was wrong.

However, late in the campaign I had 2 major complaints against the Kamala campaign:

#1, she made no attempt to refute the "free sex changes for convicts" DT ad campaign, and
#2 shied away from more progressive economic message, at the end.

Those two things LOST that election, in my humble non-professional judgement.

It didn't gain a single Republican vote either, since they have hated the Cheney's for at least 15 years now.

Saying "I can't think of anything" when asked to differentiate from Biden is another.

with the booming sports betting business than elections or news coverage. Kornacki is a numbers cruncher, a perfect fit to help NBC expand it's sports betting programming.

NBC news wants him for his election coverage.
NBC sports wants a number cruncher for the ever present Fanduel and DraftKings money.
The Triple Crown is coming soon. More gambling.
Lets see if the odds aren't in the crawl whenever he is on.

Let's raise our mugs of fair-trade coffee to the departed MSNBC analyst, the Sultan of Speed Talk and Virtuoso of Map Pointing! May his khaki pants forever be wrinkle-free and his white shirt forever stain-resistant in the chaotic realm of cable news. Farewell to the human caffeine shot, the maestro of manic gesticulations – may his next adventure be as thrilling as a live election night broadcast!
