Vice President JD Vance said the cease-fire plan would freeze territory along the current front lines of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and that the U.S. would “walk away” if both parties did not agree.

Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday called on Ukraine to accept an American peace proposal that closely aligns with longstanding Russian goals, including a “freeze” of territorial lines in the three-year war, acceptance of the annexation of Crimea by Russia and a prohibition on Ukraine becoming part of the NATO alliance.

It was the first time a U.S. official had publicly laid out a plan to end the war that favors Russia in such stark terms.

Is there really any doubt that Trump is completely in Putin's pocket?

Because of course the ONLY way to "end" the war is to give Putin whatever he wants.

I've had the opinion that Europe have been sitting back biding their time in letting Trump come up with this inevitable proposal before stepping in. Well this is the moment Europe now needs to step forward and say no, this is not going to happen.

for security assurances from the good 'ol USA. Like the assurances given in the Budapest Memorandum.

The Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances, signed on December 5, 1994, involves agreements between Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and the nuclear powers of the United States, Russia, and the United Kingdom. It provided security assurances to these countries in exchange for their commitment to give up nuclear weapons and respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Such an insult to Ukraine.

Ukraine has to know they're going to cede territory, but they should get a path to NATO and Security Guarantees.

Putin really does put the fear of something into Mr. trump's gravitational pull, and I don't think trump knows how to get out from under it.
