Donald Trump rejects idea of raising taxes on millionaires
Source: USA Today
WASHINGTON President Donald Trump appeared to rule out a proposal to raise taxes on millionaires, arguing they would flee the country over the policy.
"I think it would be very disruptive because a lot of millionaires would leave the country," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on April 23. "You'll lose a lot of money if you do that."
Trump allies such as Steve Bannon have supported raising taxes on the rich, but the president hadn't taken a position. Trump has suggested tariffs could potentially replace the income tax, even though economists warn that tariffs raise far less revenue and fall harder on lower-income households.
The president's comments came at the start of contentious negotiations with Congress over how much to spend on the federal government.

(4,315 posts)...will be deadly. They are in a box made up of their and Trump's impossible lies and promises. They tried alternative facts so now I guess they will try alternative math. Of course when the $$$ trillions come in from the tariffs and there is no downside like ALL American goods, services and good name being completely rejected by the WORLD, it'll all be blue skies and fair winds.

(500 posts)I read about him flapping his piehole addressing this idea a couple of weeks ago. I laughed out loud and knew it would never happen. This clown is so full of shit and I am so tired of him. Do we really have more than 3 years of this jerk to look forward to? We spend winters out of the country now and I'm thinking of going full time for the next couple of years.
