Mercyhealth support staff workers strike, demanding better wages and benefits

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) -- Mercyhealth support staff in Janesville went on strike Wednesday, demanding better pay and benefits.

Nearly 140 UAW Local 95 workers are striking after failed negotiations between the hospital and union over the past month.

Mercyhealth Vice President Jeni Hallatt provided the following statement to 27 News on Tuesday:

"UAW Local 95 has notified Mercyhealth East that it intends to take our employee/partners out on strike on Wednesday, July 2 at 7 am. Throughout our negotiations with the union, we have always treated our 137 Partners at Mercyhealth East in a fair and equitable manner, consistent with our other 8000+ employee/partners.
