'Go F*ck Yourself!' Stephen Colbert Hits Back After Trump Celebrates 'The Late Show' Cancelation

Source: MEDIAite

Jul 22nd, 2025, 1:15 am

The Late Show host Stephen Colbert told President Donald Trump to “go f*ck” himself on Monday after the president celebrated the cancelation of Colbert’s show.

Trump celebrated the news of The Late Show‘s cancelation last week, writing in a Truth Social post, “I absolutely love that Colbert’ got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

Responding to Trump’s post on The Late Show, Monday, Colbert remarked, “How dare you, sir. Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism? Go fuck yourself!”

Reading out Trump’s prediction that Jimmy Kimmel would be “next” on the late-night show chopping block, Colbert protested, “Nope! No, no. Absolutely not, Kimmel. I am the martyr, okay? Okay? There’s only room for one on this cross and I gotta tell you, the view is fantastic from up here!” “The only other story out there is kind of a small one,” Colbert concluded. “The president was buddies with a pedophile.”

He probably has to per his contract, but it will be hard to do knowing you are on borrowed time. He literally was terminated with 10 months notice. Crazy.

or he can start a podcast or be a regular contributor for one of his friends' shows. The Daily Show would probably take him back. Supposedly many have reached out to discuss roles for him on their networks and platforms.

10 months is a hell of a long time to find a new job. Some of us are accustomed to no-notice terminations. I sincerely hope DJT is thrown out of office before then. That would be sweet irony.

difficult, all he has to do is make fun of the guy, his ego is too big to handle any of it.

So I hope Colbert goes hard at him, from now to May is plenty of time to do it.

I think the band and the production/technical people all work under contract, so they're obligated to stay until May. They're free to take other work if they want but they can't quit Colbert while the show's still on.

They've got no fucks left to give, as the saying goes. So Colbert will be worth watching from now till the end.

He's not wrong. This is his opportunity to say whatever the fuck he wants. If the network fires him before May, then he owns the rest of the pay from the contract. I think.

Convicted criminal, sexual predator, golf fraud, and financial failure who cheats and lies his way into office, aided by malign foreigners and domestic mental sloth, declares that any report of his malignancy must be fake.

In a way, that is Not News. But hopefully at least a much bigger ripple than usual. Having a pedophile for a BFF could rub off on your other relationships.

For the sake of our humanity, finding the next gig for Colbert should be a priority!
