Smithsonian removes Trump from impeachment exhibit in American History Museum
Source: Washington Post
The Smithsonians National Museum of American History in July removed references to President Donald Trumps two impeachments from an exhibit display. A person familiar with the exhibit plans, who was not authorized to discuss them publicly, said the change came about as part of a content review that the Smithsonian agreed to undertake following pressure from the White House to remove an art museum director.
A temporary label including content about Trumps impeachments had been on display since September 2021 at the Washington museum, a Smithsonian spokesperson told The Washington Post, adding that it was intended to be a short-term addition to address current events. Now, the exhibit notes that only three presidents have seriously faced removal.
In addition to describing Trumps two impeachments, the temporary label which read Case under redesign (history happens) also offered information about the impeachments of presidents Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, as well as Richard M. Nixon, who would have faced impeachment had he not resigned. The Washington Post viewed a photograph of the temporary signage.
Now that display has returned to the way it appeared in 2008, according to the Smithsonian spokesperson.

The only thing I think Orwell got wrong in 1984 was him going after the Government, when I feel it was the CORPORATIONS that we seriously had to watch out for...............In my opinion, it's the CORPORATIONS that are running things.........this group of politicians are the best politicians that money can buy, (paid for by Corporations, run by Uber wealthy owners and stockholders.....)

Probably not a coincidence:

As someone who wrote a book about efforts to rewrite history and what I described as the Republicans war on the recent past, I couldnt help but marvel at such a brazen example of an institution succumbing to presidential pressure and altering a historical display about events Americans already saw with their own eyes......
But this story comes against an important backdrop. In late March, Trump signed an executive order that directly took aim at the Smithsonian and its museums, directing officials to eliminate improper, divisive, or anti-American ideology from the institution. The same order accused the Biden administration of, among other things, using the Smithsonian to advance what the Republican president described as a corrosive ideology.
How did the White House define words such as improper, divisive, anti-American and corrosive in an ideological context? The order didnt say. Presumably, Trump knows it when he sees it. Was there any proof of the Biden administration misusing the Smithsonian? No.....
The title of the White Houses order from March said the directive is intended to restore sanity to American history. Given the circumstances, sanity is not the word that comes to mind.
