ASHLAND, Neb. Three GOP members of Nebraska's congressional delegation defended President Donald Trump's policies and his signature bill Tuesday morning at an annual gathering of business, agricultural and government leaders.
Amid a panel-style interview at the annual summit, Sens. Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts of Nebraska, along with Rep. Mike Flood of the state's 1st Congressional District, each praised Trump's "One Big, Beautiful Bill," the president's steps to secure the U.S.-Mexico border and Trump's tariffs that have disrupted trade and frustrated Nebraska's farmers.
At town halls in Seward in May and in Lincoln on Monday, Nebraskans have lashed out against Trump's moves and, in particular, the president's domestic policy bill, which extends tax cuts enacted in 2017 and will slash more than $1 trillion from Medicaid to help pay for them.
At Tuesday's breakfast at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum in Ashland, Fischer, Ricketts and Flood hailed the bill that each of them voted for last month.

(374 posts)...will tell the actual story whether MAGAss-kissing politicians like it or not.
With roughly 70% of the U.S. economy being consumer spending, the impact of the cuts in the OBBB to everyone not named Trump, Musk, or Bezos are likely to have a huge impact on the customers the business leaders in that room depend on for the P side of P&L. No amount of corporate giveaways will make up for a collapsing customer base or a sudden disruption in their labor supply.
Ricketts, Fischer, and Flood do not care, but the people of Nebraska just might wake up from their fever dream of ending the scourge of trans-athletes and letting women run...well, anything...when they can't afford--what's the word--groceries for their families and healthcare for their kids.

(129 posts)These three care nothing about our state and their constituents. They only care about their own political power. I am hopeful that Ricketts (or Pricketts as I call him) can be be taken out at the next election.
