Pritzker slams Trump's Chicago threats: 'We don't play those games'

(The Hill) — Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) on Friday pushed back on President Trump’s threat to target Chicago next in the Trump administration’s crackdown on crime following a sweeping takeover in the nation’s capital.

“As Donald Trump attempts to create chaos that distracts from his problems, we’ll call it out for what it is,” Pritzker wrote in a lengthy thread on social platform X. “Trump and Republicans are trying to distract from the pain they’re causing — from tariffs raising the prices of goods to stripping away healthcare and food from millions.”

“After using Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. as his testing ground for authoritarian overreach, Trump is now openly flirting with the idea of taking over other states and cities,” he wrote in a subsequent post, just hours after Trump turned his sights on the Windy City during a speech from the White House.

Later, the Democratic governor added, Trump’s goal is to incite fear in our communities and destabilize existing public safety efforts — all to create a justification to further abuse his power. He’s playing a game and creating a spectacle for the press to play along with.” Pritzker wrote in another post, “We don’t play those games. Our commitment to law and order is delivering results.”

would be a group of a hundred MAGAot ICE suddenly finding themselves surrounded by 1000 Chicago Police in full battle gear........

The catch 22 is that any act of resistance will be used by the Republicans to enable the "Insurrection Act" which they are just itching to do and trying to incite a rebellion by the people to "justify" their actions..........

1) Antagonize the people to get them to act out and rebel

2) Use the rebellion to ignore the Posse Comataus Act

3) Activate the Insurrection Act

4) Use it to establish Martial Law, imposed by the entire U.S. Military across the entire U.S. focused on Blue States, and use it to cancel all future elections........

5) And the Republican House Members, Republican Senators and the Republican controlled U.S. Supreme Justices will only back them up...

3. Blue States Need to Withhold Federal Tax Revenue

Each state could then use that revenue to peacefully and legally, service and support their own law enforcement needs. Otherwise, we will become and remain the oppressed financial supporters of a police state. That is not what Noam Chomsky meant by "Manufacturing Consent."
..

.

Withholding Federal Tax Revenue Streams:

Excise Taxes (product-specific, collected upstream)

a. Gasoline & Diesel

Normal flow:
Collected at refinery/import terminal by IRS → built into wholesale price.

Choke point:
State could demand tax payments flow to a state escrow from refiners/terminals.

Reality check:
Federal liability attaches at point of removal; IRS can seize/refine licenses revoked.

b. Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms (ATF)

Normal flow:
Collected from manufacturers/importers before distribution.

Choke point:
State could block shipments unless excise paid into a state trust.

Reality check:
These are federally licensed industries; refusal would result in federal seizure.

c. Aviation Fuel & Ticket Taxes

Normal flow:
Airlines collect from passengers (ticket taxes, security fees) → remit to IRS.

Choke point:
State could order airlines operating in its airports to remit to state first.

Reality check:
Interstate commerce rules give federal government override.

d. Import Tariffs (Customs Duties)

Normal flow:
Collected at U.S. ports of entry by CBP (federal officers).

Choke point:
States have no role here unless they physically blocked federal customs operations.

Reality check:
This would look like South Carolina’s 1832 Nullification Crisis at ports.
For income, payroll, corporate taxes: choke point = employer/corporation remittance step.

For excise taxes: choke point = upstream producers/import terminals.

For tariffs/duties: choke point = ports/customs houses.

For estate/gift: choke point = estate settlement/banks.

Mechanically, the only way a state could “hold back” federal tax is by forcing businesses, employers, banks, or terminals to pay into a state escrow account instead of the IRS. Everything else flows directly between taxpayer and federal government.

need to force the Gestapo to identify who they are and who they work for. They are not official ICE agents. What was their training? How much are they being paid?

States don't pay federal taxes, their residents do through payroll deductions.

Even if individuals decide to not pay their taxes in protest, the IRS is still going to hold them responsible for tax evasion.

when the fake ICE agents try to kidnap an American citizen, or person with a valid visa or valid green card, then call in a SWAT team and arrest the fake ICE agents for attempted kidnapping. These people are Gestapo not ICE. No badges, are blue jeans and old tee shirts under a vest that says POLICE official ICE uniforms? Has anyone investigated the claim made by one of the Gestapo goons that he is being paid $1,500 for every abduction? Call in SWAT teams to ID who these masked goons are working for.

Looks to me like we are playing those games. We need AG's from blue states to come up with a way to fight back against the Gestapo other than press releases. Governors in blue states, call a state emergency, call in the National Guard, have the Guard monitor the Gestapo.

And they take months/years to get through the system.

While a standoff between National Guardsmen would be interesting, I'm betting trump would federalize all of them.

he sent fbi teams to chgo, including a mobile ballistic lab. that ACTUALLY helped. iirc, they solved several murders. maybe do that, asshole.

if he sends in troops, they will meet real resistance. there have been many, many protests here already. in my hood, there r 2 weekly visibility actions. we already have our signs. and we’re rly, rly sick of this shit.

of blue states prior to a coup. The founders did know that strangling an economy was the surest way to autocracy. Look at the economic devastation in DC.

If states don’t resist this, they will have no economy in their cities and face devastating budgets.

I heard a lady from D.C. a moment ago on MSNBC that said everyone in her neighborhood is scared to death and staying indoors. And it just hit me. What is this doing to the children? Parents are keeping them home from school. And kids WANT to go to school in the fall.

I honestly think he's trying to instigate a blowout so he can put us all under Martial Law. This is intimidating. It's the definition of terrorism! States/cities need to get the fuck ready. I think States should lay some of their own laws down. Like requiring ICE to show their GD faces and show some identification. And for God's sake, go to a damn Judge and get warrants. Of course they won't do that because the whole operation is fucking gestapo illegal!!!

I have to get off this computer, because if I don't I'm gonna blow a gasket. Bye y'all. I love every one of you, my DU friends.
