PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) The U.S. Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago cautioned Americans on Saturday to stay away from American government facilities on the twin-island nation.
It was an unusual warning that came as tensions grow between the United States and Venezuela over deadly U.S. strikes in Caribbean waters targeting suspected drug traffickers.
The embassy didnt specify why it issued the warning, saying only that, due to a heightened state of alert, please avoid and refrain from visiting all U.S. government facilities through the holiday weekend, as it urged people to be aware of your surroundings. Monday is a holiday to celebrate Diwali, a Hindu festival of lights widely celebrated in Trinidad and Tobago, where 35% of its 1.4 million people identify as East Indian.
Venezuela is located just miles away from Trinidad, where people in one coastal community are mourning the disappearance of two local fishermen believed killed in a U.S. strike on Tuesday.

(1,783 posts)America should be fearful of retribution because of it's own illegal commission of murders against a foreign Nation.
Did they also issue an advisory to be on the lookout for EPSTEIN files, so many that it would fill an average size office.?
Rhetorical, BumRush. I know if they had issued that advisory, you'd post it within 2 minutes of this post. Good morning.

(162,524 posts)That's going to be a real issue - American travelers... although they are determined to make sure the majority too poor to travel, let alone buy food and maintain healthcare and housing.
LOL I know I have posted Advisories in the past but with this administration, I have tried to avoid their propagandized websites.
But the Advisories (and past ones) For Trinidad & Tobago are here - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages/TrinidadandTobago.html
Diwali is a big thing coming up and I know many locales (like PA) have instituted a holiday for it (although office/school closures are not required here), and that was one of the issues mentioned in the Advisory.
