Trump signs order to create food supply chain task forces to protect competition

Source: Reuters

December 6, 2025 6:36 PM EST Updated 11 hours ago

WASHINGTON, Dec 6 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to establish food supply chain security task forces in the Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to address risks from price fixing and anti-competitive behavior, the White House said on Saturday.

"My Administration will act to determine whether anti-competitive behavior, especially by foreign-controlled companies, increases the cost of living for Americans and address any associated national security threat to food supply chains," Trump said in the order.

The attorney general and the FTC chairman may bring enforcement actions and propose new regulatory approaches if they uncover anti-competitive behavior during the investigation, according to the order.

Even using the power of government to regulate the free-market is better than admitting that tariffs are the cause of it all!

No Donny your half brained nitwit actions are causing food prices to raise. Things such as tariffs, trade wars, making farmers have to cut their herds and or plow their fields back under because you lost huge markets such as China, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and so on. And we now have lack of farm labor because your ICE thugs are showing up @ meat packing plants, farms, and screwing with the workers.

I want to see Mike Johnson, “Sen. Dickhead of Arkansas” Cotton, and Karoline Leavitt out in the celery
fields of California doing some picking and packing. Ted Cruz is from Texas he can take his ass and
family to the grapefruit orchards in Texas and go and pick some Texas Pink Grapefruit.

He ain't from Texas. He was born in Canada to an "illegal alien" father from Cuba and an American mother, and eventually came to the U.S. (to TX) as a young child (like so many in DACA children have done).

They made him renounce his Canadian citizenship over a decade ago since his party obsesses over "natural born" Americans (which he is is NOT by the GOP definition).

There are about three companies that control over 90 percent of poultry.

5 companies control like 90 percent of grocery stores.
A handful.of companies own about 90 percent of meat packing facilities.

But yeah, don't blame Kroger, Walmart, Perdue chicken, etc. create a foreign boogeyman for people to fear and hate.

Be nice if we dusted those off too! Been a few decades, but they still work. Everyone forgets about them when Wall Street is paying dividends.

How much foreign sourced food is in your weekly grocery haul?

Another whopper from the Distractor- In -Chief.

The reason for high food prices is corporate greed. Simple as that.
