CBP official charged with harboring girlfriend who is in US illegally

LAREDO, Texas (NewsNation) — A federal immigration supervisor is facing charges after being accused of harboring a migrant in the U.S. illegally who authorities believe may be related to him. He also faces accusations of being in a romantic relationship with that individual.

Andres Wilkinson, 52, served with Customs and Border Protection since 2001 and was promoted to a supervisory position in 2021. In that role, his duties included overseeing the enforcement of customs and immigration laws, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to a criminal complaint, he assisted Elva Edith Garcia-Vallejo in crossing through Border Patrol checkpoints.

Garcia-Vallejo overstayed a nonimmigrant visa she obtained in 2023, according to the complaint. The criminal complaint alleges Wilkinson knew of her immigration status but allowed her and her daughter to live in his home in Laredo, Texas.
