Midwest Republicans want Vance out in full force ahead of midterms

Midwest Republicans say they need Vice President JD Vance to visit their states ahead of the midterms to juice voter turnout amid an unpopular war in Iran and anxiety about the rising cost of living.

Vance is “definitely going to be in Michigan quite a bit this cycle,” said Michigan GOP Chairman Jim Runestad, noting that the vice president’s team has been in touch about “all of the different possible options for him to come out.”

The vice president’s team has assured Runestad that Vance will be visiting and is in touch with several other state leaders throughout the Midwest, where a handful of key Senate and House races will determine which party holds the chambers during the president’s final two years of the term – and will also serve as 2028 battlegrounds.

“Having [President Donald Trump and Vance] come here is absolutely vital,” Runestad said.
