Republicans move to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands with disabilities.

Last fall, Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird joined 16 other state attorneys general in filing Texas v. Becerra, a legal complaint against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The lawsuit, among other requests, asks the court to find that Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is unconstitutional.

While this action is designed to target transgender Iowans, it also quietly moves to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of Iowans with disabilities.

This 52-year-old law protects qualified disabled people from discrimination in programs that receive federal funding, which, as you can imagine, covers quite a bit. Section 504 prevents Department of Housing and Urban Development-funded housing providers from discriminating against renters with disabilities. Section 504 requires medical providers accepting federal funding like Medicaid and Medicare to provide sign language interpreters, accessible examination tables, and to provide understandable medical information to their patients with various disabilities. Section 504 also requires federally funded transportation systems like Amtrak to be accessible to passengers with disabilities and prohibits employers who receive federal funding from discriminating against employees with disabilities … and so much more.

Republican states' attorneys general are radical fascists. RAGA robocalls to incite the insurrectionists on Jan. 6, 2020. I don't understand where their hatred of this country comes from.
