ICYMI: Senate Democrats Are Fighting Back Against DOGE Through GAO

The GAO is an agency within the Legislative Branch and outside the reach of DOGE. The GAO confirmed by written letter that it will pursue the request for an investigation.

“GAO’s mission is to support Congress in carrying out its constitutional duties and GAO is a legislative branch agency. As the investigative arm of Congress, GAO examines how federal dollars are spent and how federal programs, policies, and operations work."


GAO operates with a $637m budget, employing approximately 3,000 full-time staff.
