Trump Says Blue States Will 'Totally Disappear Off The Map'

Former President Donald Trump has teased a “big, big surprise” for Democrats in the 2026 midterm elections, claiming that blue states might “totally disappear off the map.”

He also pointed out that he has raised $608 million for the campaign and plans to spend it helping his allies. Trump warned Democratic states, saying, “The red states are going to do good, and the blue states, I don’t know, maybe they’ll totally disappear off that map.”

A recent CBS News poll showed that voters are pleased with Trump’s performance, calling him “tough,” “energetic,” “focused,” and “effective.” The Cook Political Report also gave Republicans an edge to maintain control of the Senate in 2026, though Democrats need to pick up four seats to take back the majority.

When the plan fails, his advisers will come to him with tears in their eyes and say “But Mr. Resident,
It looked so good when you drew it with your Sharpie.”

to create a blue wave? I'm worried. We've been let down so much since trump's first admin, I wonder how many have just given up. Despondency creates apathy.

If you want a Blue Wave, you need broad appeal. Yes, by all means deploy educated rational candidates, run by educated rational campaigns, that appeal to and don't repel educated rational voters. But the appeal does not have to be limited to them.

The appeal should be to broader sets. I expect the conditions in the US to be worse by time spring and summer 2026 arrive, but the foundations can be laid now. One big foundation is to always call the R candidates "Trump Republicans" (or tRump RepubliConmen if you prefer), to always link them inseparably.

With worse conditions, talk about issues and things that voters can actually see or that are inescapable on TV/social.

If there is high inflation, that's obvious, but hammer it.

If there are job losses reaching beyond government and big auto companies, hammer it. "Trump and Republicans didn't ship jobs offshore like they used to; this time they destroyed jobs."

If the US has lost power and respect around the world, and/or people are reluctant to travel to US or from US, hammer it. Ways like "America First is all well and good until it becomes America Alone. Trump Republicans isolated you."

If the federal government is disrupted and malfunctioning (from the voter viewpoint), hammer it. "Do you feel safer eating chicken now they are Trump inspected chickens?"

Just because a voter might be poorly educated and/or somewhat irrational doesn't mean they can't be reached.

The Blue States support the Red States as they contribute more money to the Federal government than they get back.

'"a “big, big surprise” for Democrats in the 2026 midterm elections,""

Does he know about a surprise? Whatever could that be? Could it be similar to what happened in 2024?

Inquiring minds want to know.

That "recent" CBS poll was over 2 weeks ago. Since then, his approval in ALL polls has been dropping quickly. This week alone, 5 major polls showed him 5 or more points underwater. One of those polls this week showed the Democrats with an 11 point lead over the Republicans on the question of who they want to win the 2026 midterms. That doesn't sound like voters are pleased with his performance. This article was one of the most pathetic excuses for "journalism" that you will ever see. It was straight out stenography from the Trump administration.

And the media today is all in for trump, especially after the ongoing AP fiasco. I've never seen such terrified cowards in my life! I'd love to see a poll when there was enough time for these federal firings to hit the public psyche... as well as all the confusion and chaos around SS and Medicare. I'd be willing to bet his numbers will be bottoming out by that time. What is it with R's? Sometimes they even come up with decent ideas, but they always have to do the "one toke over the line" and not only kill the good idea, but absolutely destroy any good that could have come from it. I don't understand (smdh). Is it just that they aspire to be as cruel as possible, everything else be damned?
