If you wanted the cost of eggs to decrease during Donald Trump’s new presidency, we apologize in advance.

According to a new Department of Agriculture report, egg prices are projected to swell by 41.1% this year due to a bird flu outbreak that continues to devastate flocks. The agency also predicted all food prices would rise 3.4% in 2025.

This updated prediction is so alarming because it’s more than double the department’s forecast from just one month ago. As the Daily Kos reported earlier this month, a previous USDA prediction estimated that egg prices could rise by “as much as 20% this year.”

The federal agency noted that retail egg prices were already climbing. In January, retail egg prices surged by 13.8%, following an 8.4% price increase in December.

Hens are fun and easy keepers. One can have chickens in cities. Just no roosters.

Sorry I grew up in the city and only have encountered chickens at the zoo or small community farms outside of the city

6. No roosters required for hens to lay eggs. I prefer my eggs unfertilized and my ladies are happier

without a rooster. No bugs or hoppers in my yard either.

On bakery items are also going to increase! Corporate America always pasts on their increased costs to consumer and now that the country is in an oligarchical monopoly now we are all screwed. Stock up if you can!

9. Even though it costs $ to raise hens

my husband I plan on getting chickens in late March. We’d get them sooner but our chicken coop needs to be rebuilt and we’ll be on vacation in mid-March. Having some degree of self-reliance feels like a good thing to do.
