The National Security Crisis Hidden In the Epstein Emails
Even before the release of this most recent tranche of Epstein emails, there was little doubt that Donald Trump had a great deal to fear from the Epstein Files. To recap: Epstein and Trump were, according to the convicted pedophile, best friends until they had a falling out over a Palm Beach waterfront estate.
It is not unreasonable to believe that when Donald Trump stole the ironically-named Florida mansion Maison de LAmitié from under Jeffrey Epstein in 2004, Epstein demanded retribution. Notably, shortly after outbidding Epstein for the property in 2004, Trump put Maison de LAmitié on the market, where it was eventually purchased for more than twice what Trump had paid for it by Dmitri Rybolovlev, a Russian oligarch who then sold it off for parts a few years later. Rybolovlev had made his fortune as the chairman and majority owner of a fertilizer company called Uralkali. A few years after buying Maison de LAmitié for a massive mark up from Trump, he sold his majority stake in Uralkali to a group of investors, including one with deep ties to Vladimir Putin.
This is all a predicate for the evidence about Trump and Epstein that is now staring us straight in the face. If Beltway reporters actually understood how the Kremlin works, they would have picked up on a key email buried in the trove released by House Republicans. Instead, official Washington and the media have largely missed the part of yesterdays email dump that has turned this story into a national security matter.
Here is what is going on: Trump is running a protection racket for himself, for his cronies and for God knows who else. And its the God knows who else that is the most fascinating twist of all.
