It's a mondegreen which is a series of words that result from the mishearing or misinterpretation of a statement or song lyric. Here are some examples:

“Don’t go ’round tonight. It’s bound to take your life. There’s a bathroom on the right.”

"If you like bean enchiladas..."

"Hit me with your pet shark..."

"Give me the Beach Boys and free my soul..."

The one I mentioned about "the girl with colitis goes by" is from the Beatles' Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

I remember seeing Santana for the first time in Mission Dolores Park, just across the street from Mission High School; the high school Carlos Went to.....They played near the bleachers, (where the Mission High School football team played), and there were probably only about 150 people there.

You're drowning a sorrow that's long been at rest

A Saturday Night, Fayetteville Arkansas, alcohol involved. A friend had his guitar and I started singing A Texas Love Song entertaining the hippies and the commies. Did I mention alcohol was involved? My act was warmly received. Elton would have approved.

I still crank up Elton often. Have all of his Old Stuff.

Feb 2025

As a little girl I came down to the water
With a little stone in my hand
It would shimmer and sing
And we knew everything
As a little girl I came down

Every now and then
I can see that I'm getting somewhere
Where I have to go is so deep
I was angry back then and you
know I still am
I have lost too much sleep
But I'm gonna find it

Parts of one of my favorite songs, written and performed by a winner of two Grammys.

Great song by a great artist from years ago; deserves more recognition.
