He was always my favorite Star Trek character.
I always thought he should be in charge.
Captain Kirk couldn't tie his shoes without Spock.

It was Kirk's job to deal with all the irrational Federation directives, crew members, and aliens, which he usually did by being more terrifyingly irrational than they were.
Whenever Kirk went too far Spock was always there to save his ass.
