9. I used to take the city bus in Salem, OR to work at a mall job I had.

I got off the bus across the street from the mall and standing there is a huge elk in the parking lot. I just stayed across the street, but people coming out of the mall were chased back in into it. It took about half an hour until the elk left. They're not afraid of humans.

13. College Friend Hit One

Came around a curve on a state highway in northern Wisconsin.
Hit the elk. Killed it, but he was driving a Mercury Bobcat. Car was a total loss.
It was freezing cold and the middle of nowhere, but luckily for him, a state trooper was a mile or so away coming in the other direction. Cop gave him a ride back to his aunt's house.
That car looked like it was dropped off a buidling!
