I think all the other locations have closed now. Even though we were from Newark High School, we'd love to go up there get the Pit Special and top everything off with one of their School Sundaes that we'd share. Our favorite was the Green Knight. It's even on DoorDash now, but way too far from Newark for that, and reheated fries just wouldn't be the same.

Smuckers hasn't made the latter in decades, but I can still (kind of) remember it. 'Not sure why the margarine--that seems unnecessary, but it was tasty and we ate a lot of them. I do wish someone made Cinnamon Cherry jam/jelly again, though. (No, it was not cinnamon apple- which they do still make).

Not a healthy choice and haven't eaten it in years but it was a treat when we were kids.

The favorite weird combo I've seen (which I never tried 'cause it seemed too gross) was my grandmother used to eat Hershey bars folded into white bread. She said the chocolate was too sweet and the white bread made it perfect.

Cold canned pork n beans with a dollop of mayonnaise swirled in. The daughter in laws would say, Do you know what he eats? The other, cold beans and mayo, gross!

I never acquired the taste, but it doesn't bother me, what does is great quantities of ketchup. I don't even like the smell much less the taste.

Now something good the guys came up with is to make holes in an apple with a potato peeler to be filled with sharp cheddar spikes. This way each bite is both apple and cheese. They looked quite nice.

I was lazy would eat a bite of apple and then a bite of cheese.

I drink diet ginger ale all the time so that's my pop of choice. I add a little ginger ale to a bowl of ice cream because it makes crispy little ice chunks that break up the "richness" of the ice cream. I enjoy the textural difference between the two. I also love french fries with Ken's Boom Boom sauce as a spicy change from ketchup.
