(10,860 posts)I got a pneumonia shot Tuesday at the doctors office. In another month or two Ill get the second shingles shot, and a tetanus booster. In the fall, a covid booster and a flu shot.
I feel like a pin cushion.

(9,843 posts)The good news is, if you had the full series of tetanus vaccine doses as a child or, for those over age 30, any booster in the past several decades, you likely have nothing to worry about. Instead of getting a tetanus booster every 10 years as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention currently recommends for adults, a new study suggests immunity from the vaccine lasts at least 30 years. That goes for protection against both tetanus and diphtheria, the other disease that the Td booster protects against.

Good thing is - tetanus is a very rare disease now - you might have one chance in 300 million of getting tetanus. According to WHO tetanus charts, in 2018 an 2019 there were no deaths from tetanus in US. Most other years - 5 to 15 cases. Most of us no longer live on farms so we are not stepping on a nail with horse manure on it.

(10,860 posts)I dont mean to offend you, but Im not qualified to do my own medical research. Most people arent. If the CDC, even under Robert Kennedy, Jr., still recommends a ten year booster, Ill go with that.
