How Well Do I Know This Familiar Road?

I've traveled this road thousands of times,
know the lights and each church's chimes.
As I blow through this road at forty-five,
I begin to wonder what makes it thrive.

Have I ever noticed, the homes and shops?
It's unique characteristics, encouraging stops.
Maybe some Saturday, a day with no hurry,
I'll park my car here and on foot I will scurry.
As I'm now curious, my eyes will discover,
A romantic cafe, I may dine here with a lover.
On this special day, I'm served a reminder,
When I stop look'n listen, life will be kinder.
So each day, as I haul this 5000 pound load,
I now ask myself
How well do I know, this familiar road?
Love, John
